Its a muffling system, so its not super efficient, but other than that, what exactly is "hobbling" the system? (I assume hobbling means preventing it from producing power at the engine potential). It would be nice to have some reasoning tied to your argument(s). i.e. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with using a 50mm inlet section on an exhaust system. Theres nothing intrinsically wrong with an id reduction on the suction side of an exhausting system, particularly if you are accelerating into an expansion chamber. There isnt even a necessary detriment to bends, open transitions, or even obstructions in a system, think pulse tuning. For someone with a background in fluid dynamics, what would you say are the take aways, other than "the inlet is 50mm, theres an id reduction to 48mm and there are three chambers with a velocity stack on the final low pressure outlet". Cuz none of that means anything to me if im tasked with deciding if my stock exhaust is performance compromised. All that being said, I dont dispute that this designed can be improved on, I just didnt hear any arguments about failings in the present design. I just hear a description of the current design, in a tone that implies, "this is bad".

You failed to mention that the 987 has four catalysts and one is in your demonstration OEM muffler. Removing any of the four is not in emissions compliance and at least a Smog Check failure in California.

Do we know what the sport exhaust from Porsche looks like? With a 981 Spyder I'm curious if it's still as restrictive as what you show.

What was that green tape for ?

Is the catalytic converter separable from the muffler without cutting?
