Unfortunately the new PCM is only available for the 996/986. We can hope they bring one out for the 997 tho...

@@KRTLyfejust did PCCM plus in my 996 - it’s a huge improvement. Now to fix my atrocious steering wheel lol. I have a Macan Turbo too and the wheel is a lot better.

I hope Porsche makes the PCCM+ upgrade unit for the 997 soon. The one they made for the 996 is mega!

@@KRTLyfe Same as yours but it was already non multi function as I don't have that on my current wheel. All I had to do was remove the paddles and buy the GT4 shroud for the rear to cover the holes left where the paddles were. I've kept them and will take the wheel off the car when I sell it eventually for a 991 PDK and will likely put it on there. :-)

All done. Airbag was a pig to get in and had read on rennlist that sometimes you have to shave off a tiny bit of the white clips to get it to clip in properly. Took my time and did this and it pops in perfectly now. Looks and feels SO much better. 👍🏻

Paul Seales awesome! I missed that little detail, I might try it on mine. When I did mine I had to put some force on it to get it in place.

I 100 percent agree with you! I think it’s often overlooked but absolutely one of the best modifications you can make if your steering wheel is lacking. On my Land Cruisers the difference between a leather wrapped wheel and the basic OEM is night and day!

Yes, you are correct.

Long story short, when I was swapping the wheels out I locked the steering column by mistake. So I put the power back on to unlock it with the airbag disconnected. That triggered the Airbag warning. I used my Icarsoft to reset it myself. Literally takes a few seconds. Yes my horn works, I should’ve included footage of that. Maybe I should do a quick update video of that. Mine was plug and play because I didn’t try to activate multifunction. Hope this information helps!

Check my Math but I think it should. You might have to get this electronic adapter but its pretty much the same process from what I have heard.

I suspect that if you get a 997 with multifunction it might work. I would definitely do some in-depth research to make sure it’s possible or what it takes to make it possible. I couldn’t take looking at that triangle steering wheel anymore. Yes it is the heated steering wheel however the heating function didn’t seem to work. I think had i installed that other electrical component it might have but I have my reservations.

It is almost 1to 1 the main difference is the new wheel is much thicker and has a superior tactile feel and feed back.

No, that would’ve been awesome tho! It might have if I would’ve tried using the multifunction.

My solution was very easy. I took a red bull can and cut some squares out and turned them inside out. I used HVAC tape to hold them in place. I know it sounds crazy but it looks pretty damn close to the rest of the trim. When the steering wheel is in place you really can’t see back there anyway. I was actually trying to film it the other day for a update video I recorded and it wasn’t easy to get a camera back there.

@@KRTLyfe I like it! Ingenious simple solution. I think I'll do the same as I haven't been able to find the cover for purchase. Now I just have to find a reasonably priced steering wheel to justify the mod. Thanks again!

I was thinking I could always get someone to match the leather but then that center piece for the air bag might be hard to alter the colors. I'll find a way eventually, you've sparked and idea.

KRT LYFE oops! Just seen your updated video & realised I was a bit late. If you do plan on getting another P car, I can recommend a 718 Boxster or Cayman. I had one as a loan car for a few days & loved every minute of it. If you do decide you need the 4WD, I'm sure the 991/992 would make a great choice! If all else fails, the sensible choice is a Macan. More practical & drives as well as any hot hatch. 👍

There is a lot of information pertaining to this exact thing on many of the Porsche Forums. I recommend doing your due diligence in finding specific information for your application. I do remember during the research phase of my experience , reading something about using DURAMETRIC to “turn on” certain features. I also remember reading that for certain functions to work you need a electronic adapter device. I don’t recall the exact terminology for the adapter but I’m sure you will be able to find the information you need on the P car forums. No, mine was plug and play. I didn’t have to remove swap or change any wiring. Those airbag plugs are color coded and can only fit in one orientation from what I recall.

I don’t think it will fit a 996, if I still had a 996 I think I would go with a retro looking wheel.

Sivasuss from what I read prior to doing this modification everything should be plug and play. I had to reset my airbag light because I turned my car on with out the air bag being connected. If you don’t do that you shouldn’t get an airbag light. If you do, you can easily reset it with Icarsoft.
