Porsche Boxster / Cayman 987 Window Adjustment And Re-Alignment

This video shows how I adjust and re-align both front windows in my 2006 Porsche Boxster 987 (also applies to Cayman 987). The window regulator probably failed in the past as it can be a common problem and presumably when the regulator was replaced, the window wasn't quite fitted in the exact spot to ensure there would be no water leaks from the window. After washing the car, I noticed a small amount of water trickling through the inside of the window so the window itself needed nudging forward in the frame by a couple of mm's. Once the door card and interior door panel were removed, adjusting the window is as simple as loosening a couple of torx screws, moving the window and then reversing the procedure by tightening the torx screws, replacing the inner door cards and the door panel and once completed and the car is washed again, there are zero leaks coming in the windows to the realignment worked a treat, all completed in under an hour for both sides.

Really enjoying these useful do at home improvements videos. Watching you remove/refit the door card made me realise I could replace the worn leather of the inside door pull on my 987, which I assumed was just part of the whole door card, so thanks 😊. Keep going with the boxster content

Thanks but I'm running out of things I can do myself, I'll be back to campervan conversion content soon, but there will be the odd job here and there still to come, including swapping out the rubbish original radio etc

I’ve seen a lot of people opt for the pioneer touch screen unit. I went alpine but anything has to be better than the original lol

How do you adjust the rake of the back. Mine is pressing out a little not sitting against the rubber seal. Bottom 6mm bolts?

Did you disconnect the battery beforehand? Just with airbag

I think using the window to open and close the door is your problem. Not the PO.

Nothing to do with it at all, the windows were both out of alignment when I bought the car as they both let water in from a hose when washing it, once I moved them over slightly, no water leaks in now.

Hi there mate,I have replaced the regulator,got the 100 pounds aftermarket one,done everything like you have done ,but when I put the windows down,it goes too much inside of the door....if I try to get it up again, it's hitting the inside of the door and I need to guide it with credit card or something to get it up again...apart from that everything is ok mate...just can't get it to stop before it goes all the way unless I do it click by click but that's annoying I can't do it only with a press of the button.
