Absolutely love Doc Martin series and your fascinating historical evolution of Port Isaac! This gives me great comfort from east coast of USA. Hope to visit Cornwall soon! Thank you, Sarah and Andrew for such a wonderful peek into this town in Cornwall!🚤

Thank you for this beautiful tour around Port Isaac! I was there in 2017, and had not watched any of the Doc Martin series. I have now, and it is great to recognize the houses and doors and the scenery :-) I love these old British villages. They don't change very much, and it is like walking back in the history. Great story about the fishermen who made enough money for a breakwater. Well done! I believe fishermen's life could be quite hard at that time, and the working contitions were brutal. Perhaps they enjoyed to take a little break from the storme and the waves and have a singing tour? :-)

You guys are too cute and funny! Thanks for this tour of Port Isaac, I so loved the Doc Martin series and I wish it would continue. I live in America but I would very much love to visit Port Isaac, it so unique and interesting. I love how you took the book and found the exact places to see how they had changed. Thank you for taking us along.

Always lovely to see Port Isaac's tiny streets and houses & some history to go with it too. The seagull at the end of the vid sitting on the wall reminded me of the time I visited there and saw baby seagulls for the first time ever! x J x

Hi Sahra and Andrew. We used to go to Port Issac in the 1970´s / 80´s. when my dad lived in Trelill.....we layed his body to rest in Trelill chapel grave yard in 2000 aged 90. Happy memories of Port Issac and eating pasties there. Stay well..stay safe.

Another interesting and informative video. Lots of fun to watch and yarns to be heard. I loved the story of the Fishermen that raised money to build the harbour wall and the connection with the ‘Fisherman’s friends” sea shanty group. I learn something new every week - a good use of old books which in most cases, “tales that have been long forgotten”. Super video - thanks for the entertainment.

What a brilliant tour of Port Isaac, a very unique minuscule village famous for the filming of Doc Martin, I followed it religiously, I remember the film ‘Fisherman’s Friends’ it was wonderful, thanks for the reminder again Andrew, I wonder if the owners of number 16. ‘KILDARE’ were fans of another certain Dr.! … I wouldn’t mind putting in an offer for the property that was used for Doc Martins home and surgery, it would be refused of-cause at the price i was thinking of! thanks again for another wonderful informative tour, Hugs to all three of you 🤗🥀🥰

I wonder if Herbert Brown is related to John and Jeremy Brown of Fishermans Friends? I would think it highly likely since they grew up in the village. Randomly the bloke driving the blue truck towing the boat is Jeremy Brown. You could have asked him! John Does tours around Port Isaac and is a very nice bloke. We were there in June 2022 and had a drink with him.

was there in 1969.............its changed a lot, back then it was in decline due to overseas foreign holidays, had an Uncle there Jack Brown he had a Borther Dick Brown maybe related to the Brown you mentioned, he was born in I guess 1911 ish his Mother was a teacher at the school which was still open when i was a kid. They lived in New Road (34) Jack had a photo of the harbour BEFORE it had the breakwater.

A lovely jaunt! The "Then and Now' photo comparison is always a treat. It's so satisfying to see that the town has not changed drastically. Here in CA, the real estate is worth too much (though the price for that cottage is crazy!), and new "luxury" buildings have damaged the character of many places. It's nice to see entire towns retaining their charm. Loved Skinny Belly Alley! :)

Thankfully the new 'executive, luxury' builds are further up the hill and the centre of the old village has retained much of its character, Sarah :)

Eveen though i have watched doct M many years, i must admit, some Locations in prog, i never knew where they ar. I have seen a KZfaq video showing inside docts cottage, an i would-not even if i had t money purchase it, because rear view, is Like Looking at a giant wall of grass.!!!! I believe it is feasible to bring a railway to upper ,edge of village, to part where there is no buildings, an it is not-imposible to-get right to harbour,, as it÷was done at Porth towan. I meant Portreath not Portowan. I-was there yesterday 17th-May, when they filmed, an might have seen1 of yu. Iwas waering giant clock front.!!!!!!

The Blue Rooster is DE state bird symbol. Known in early settlement times for Cock Fighting of Blue Chicken Breed. The roosters are beautifully colored. Lewes became the first city home to the “Blues.” U D = University of DE are called “The Blue Hens“ because the athletic teams are known to fight for a win like a Blue Rooster. It is said, some ‘cock fight with betting’ still exists. I know not where……..
