I went by on the NEC Corridor Trenton Local on Saturday, June 8. I was impressed that the bridge piers in the river had fairly spacious concrete decks surrounding them which will hopefully mitigate any barges or ships from striking the supports. I think the Francis Scott Key Bridge disaster in Baltimore is still fresh in the public conscious. Thanks for posting.

Nice video. Gives a good overview of the sweep of the project.

A lot of work going on there. I see they're starting to build the catenary poles.

Will the old Portal Bridge be demolished when the new bridge is complete? I noticed a bridge up river that seems to be left permanently open to river traffic.
@moxsexflex1Ай бұрын
I believe the plan is to tear down the old portal bridge and build a new 2nd bridge years later .

@@moxsexflex1 Hey Thanks - so eventually 4 tracks ... that makes sense when the 2nd set Hudson tunnels are complete. I guess

@@moxsexflex1 Once the first bridge is done (Portal North) and train traffic is shifted to it, the OLD bridge will be demolished and another new bridge (Portal South) will be built. After that there will be 2 bridges that will allow 2 track each.

Thank a Democrat for the infrastructure bill!! while some Republicans sat on the sidelines with arms crossed and holding their breath.

...while also trying to take credit for a bill for which they didn't vote.

Don't forget to thank the Republicans for delaying this project by a decade, making it cost more than twice as much and for reducing its scope.

@@travisbeagle5691 ...in addition to their constant griping about project costs when it was a Republican that contributed to costs rising by his shutting down the project.

Well, I guess this conveniently ignores that the Trump admin was responsible for deeming the portal north bridge eligible for federal funding in Jan-2020, which is how it was able to be funded and eventually greenlit, but let’s not let facts get in the way of a good comment!

@@tomoconnell2320 Whoopty F#ckin doo. Let's throw a party for him "deeming" the project eligible for federal funds, even though his admin gave them NO money, and the Obama Administration already agreed to split the cost with NY/NJ years prior before Mr. Destruction came in and ruined it. Let's also remember in that same breath he deemed the Portal Bridge eligible for federal funds, Trump's admin deemed the Gateway tunnel INELIGIBLE for federal funding even though that project is needed just as much as the Portal Bridge. No. That failure of an ex-president gets no credit for this from me.
