Excellent video. I enjoyed hearing about HOW various aspects of the game came to be. Part of what made Portal so enjoyable was the antagonistic dialogue. Then part of what made Portal 2 so awesome was that it was in the future AND the past. It felt like three games in one. This improved on Portal's only flaw (short). It also made pretty good use of all the new facets it incorporated. Can't wait for Portal 3 *crosses fingers*.

I'll never understand the love of Portal 2. It was so ridiculously easy that I could barely finish it. Instead of letting me solve puzzles, they would just put white squares on the walls so I knew EXACTLY where I needed to put portals to succeed. There was no thought involved.

I think the aspects of the game that added motion sickness and difficulty should have been left in the game, but placed in a separate campaign or gamemode. However, if they did that, we probably would still be waiting for Portal 2.

As much as I wish there would be a Portal 3, there isn't going to be one. The Portal series is finished. Chell is now free! The only loose ends I can think up of is... 1. What happens to Chell next now that she's stuck in a wheat field in the middle of nowhere? 2. Why does she have the companion cube with her? 3. What happens to Wheatley and the Space core up in outer space? Besides now that Chell is free there can't be a Portal 3, there would be no story! It would be cool if they turned the Portal series into a movie though. That would be awsome! They could have Cave Johnson, Caroline, and Doug Rattman in the beginging and everything!

I had an idea for Portal 3 or something that would've been cool in Portal 2. What if there was a series of test chambers where the emancipation grill vaporizes the portal gun and you use F-Stop throughout those test chambers. And when you got through the chambers you would get a new portal gun. Who likes it?

The gel that allowed you to defy gravity was still in the code at the time of release and was changed into a gel with the ability to reflect lasers during the Perpetual Testing Initiative update. This "Reflection Gel" was also not included.

See, when I was a child, I thought that nobody really knew or cared about Washington State. Now I know that we have Microsoft, Valve, Amazon, DigiPen, 343 Industries, Bungie, Sucker Punch, PopCap, Nintendo of America, Snowblind, WB Games , Wild Tangent and A LOT more gaming companies. We also have the Seahawks and their Super Bowl win along, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Some natural disasters too like Mount St. Helens, the '01 earthquake and the mudslide. We're a lot more famous than I thought!

I hope that a "Portal, Part 2" episode of DYKG surfaces, incorporating LEGO Dimensions into it, as I count that (at least the Portal levels) as Portal 3.

Wow, Gabe is really good with developer. Saw CS, hired them. Team Fotress, "Hey CS, weve been hired first!", Dota, "Hey Icefrog, why dont u come and hangout with us at our office" hired!. Now portal? Keep on supporting guys like these Gabe.

By the way, you CAN fire a portal through a portal in portal 1 by getting the tip of your portal gun through the portal while your body is still on the other side. The aiming reticle will change to the one that appears when you aim at a valid surface (as long as it's valid) and you can launch a portal. You have to make sure you launch the right color (the color opposite of the one you're currently walking through) and quickly step back (least you fall into something you don't want to).

At around 3:05 did anyone else stop listening to MatPat and just try and focus on all the things that were happening on the screen?

This was the vid where i first heard of matpat. As im writing this on a early friday morning, his last food and style theories are on their respective channels, and his final game and film theries are probably due this weekend. I´ll probably write down a full final goodbye on a vid actually made on HIS channel as he leaves, but right now im just happy i remembered to note something down here, cuz i kinda feel like its an important vid to me. actual comment about the vid though: good vid, first place where i learnt a BUNCH of this stuff.

I started wondering lately, what is the cake? I mean it could possibly be the cake that GLaDOS talks about, but what if its is something else? when rattman writes the cake is a lie the third time it almost seems like his is running away from "the cake" because of the way the "e" is extended with a squiggily line. Rattman has taken those drugs so he could possibly be halusinating that there is such thing/person as "the cake". Or maybe i am looking too deep into this theory and it is as simple as the cake is the cake GLaDOS talks about.

Something that is actually pretty cool, an achievement in Portal 2 is called Narbacular Drop, and could be a reference to the game, Narbacular Drop. I don't know, something pretty cool.

Did you know that the idea for Gels was originally introduced in a game called Tag:The Power of the Paint in wich you had a gun that shot 3 different gels on sufaces. The gun could also clean these surfaces if the gels were bothering you. The game was also made by a group of students... boy, Valve really like young minds, don't they...

Disappointed that they didn't mention how Portal may not have came to be if it weren't for Invader Zim. It would have been a pretty cool story to talk about.

If you go to page 9 of the lab rat comic and translate the binary in the top right, it says "the cake is a lie.". it is really cool.

I'm dissapointed of toy MatPat... Have you forgotten TAG? It's a short indie game that gave you the option to shoot paint that allowed you to run fast, jump and walk on walls. valve actually hired the guys who developed the game to integrate the paint mechanich into Portal. Kind of symbolic since Portal, as stated was created by indie developers which were hired by valve...

Actually, Mel was introduced as the character in the community made Portal 2 mod: Portal Stories:Mel, but again, it's a mod. So, I don't think it being another tie between the Portal and Portal 2 stories is technically canon.

There also was a fourth gel, reflection gel. It turns cubes into something like the laser redirection cubes, they coud reflect thermal beams and turret target lasers (the second one was just cosmetic, It had no further use.)
