Shelter tells the story of Rin, a 17-year-old girl who lives her life inside of a futuristic simulation completely by herself in infinite, beautiful loneliness. Each day, Rin awakens in virtual reality and uses a tablet which controls the simulation to create a new, different, beautiful world for herself. Until one day, everything changes, and Rin comes to learn the true origins behind her life inside a simulation.

I had to cry really hard because it reminded me of my young daughter who passed away a year ago. Especially as a young dad in my early 20s, it's quite challenging, but this video somehow gives me hope. Knowing that she is somewhere as safe as depicted in this fantastic short film.

I always thought this song was a metaphor about boredom and loneliness. The brightest people tend to be the most secluded people; they can build amazing worlds in their mind but they have no one to share them with, making all of their worlds worthless to them. They just keep repeating the process until they're bored out of their wits and don't care anymore.

when i found this song it was a couple of months after my dad died, he gave me shelter and love but now he's gone. @SCP- 999 I used to always act cold to my Father and ignore him when he told me he loves me. Now I could not appreciate anything in the World more than all the times he told me he loves me. Those words will forever stay with me. Trust me, even if they act cold to you or get annoyed when you tell them you love them. They will remember it in the future, and appreciate it a lot more than they ever could in the present.

I'm a single child of a single mom. She died recently. I can't begin to describe how this video feels so much like my situation. Knowing how much she did for me through my life, how much she gave just to make me happy. Being in the home we spent so much time together in, surrounded by the decorations and furniture she liked. The things she put up when I was a small child. The way she organized my books or games. Going downstairs where grandma used to read and watch TV in her room, inviting me to come in. The way to the kitchen where her workstation sits collecting dust, where she spent so much time grading and looking after her students. The garage where that stupid cherry red chair sits, the place she used to enjoy having her morning-afternoon coffee and a brief smoke that I simply can't find myself to move now. Now it's so peacefully quiet, lights that used to be on at night are off. The quiet din of a TV no longer buzzing at night. That small fake-Christmas tree we got standing quietly in the corner, a marker of our last Holiday together. She built an entire home for me, gave me so many endlessly great Birthdays. Brought together so many of my friends every year. Some days I don't think of it, I just work or play quietly. But others I remember every wonderful moment, and for all the tears it brings I can't help but feel loved. Thank you, Mom.

To begin with, the proper use for a weeb hardly reflects upon anyone who you've seen comment here, or probably will ever talk to. A weeb is somebody who has forsaken their culture in favor of Japan's. If someone like that was here, they'd probably be posting in some hastily Google Translated kanji, and not English words. If you were to dislike this video, you would have some of the most flawed logic for doing so that I've seen in a while. And while yes, the music video is great, there are people who honestly enjoy it for the song. The same song posted by Madeon (which doesn't have the video) has reached more than half of the views for this video. I've listened to both, I thoroughly enjoy the song. And do you understand what a good majority of people do with KZfaq videos anyway? They'll watch the video once, and then they will leave youtube in the background of whatever they are doing after that, and the video thus loses most of it's relevance to the song. This isn't supposed to come out rude, but it has. I'm too lazy to fix it, so just acknowledge the meaning if you would.

The film follows 17-year-old Rin who lives alone inside a futuristic simulation. Rin's father Shigeru dedicates a large portion of his time to the happiness of his daughter, but in the meantime builds a single-passenger spacecraft with life support for Rin to escape. He also successfully wipes any memory of him or Earth from her mind, instead programming these and a letter from him to come to her later in life in hope that she would better understand the circumstance once she has matured. Just before the planet makes contact, he connects her to the simulation and launches the ship carrying her into space, where she has been for the past seven years. Copied from wikipedia.
