@Kelvin Klopper Hey lep lep la. You don't have enough imagination . Kubrick figured it out without the internet, why is it so hard for humans with so much information to see the truth? It requires a lot of patience. But yeah. We will visit the stars, as the stars are us. And we long for purpose , so the stars long for purpose, it makes sense. Why wouldn't the stars want to be visited by their most stubborn children ? It doesn't make sense.

Once, I had a dream with this song playing in the background. And it was the most beautiful, surreal dream I’ve ever had. Earth was dying, and the government had issued each family a spaceship to take us to our next habitable planet. But my family, much like many others, stayed until the very last day. Right before we were going to take off, I told my parents I wanted to say one last goodbye to our planet. So I spent that time wandering around in woods and fields I grew up in. The sky kept darkening, so my only light was the one built into my spacesuit. Finally, right before I was ready to leave, I stopped at the edge of the field and stared at the wall of trees (the woods) in front of me. And like magic, a light glowed from the woods, rising up. It was our neighbors, leaving behind everything in their spaceship. As I watched everything around me light up, animals of all kinds gathered beside me to watch. With the wind and dark surrounding us, all creatures in harmony, we watched the spaceship fly away. In earth’s final hours, every creature upon it was at peace, residing together in harmony. It was like they knew the world was ending. And only then, every being was truly together, without hurting one another. Right before the end of the world. But I left earth behind. Needless to say, it was the best dream I’ve ever had.

A lot of the music industry I've noticed puts so much into the climax of the song, but neglects the rise and fall. The climax is only as good as the rise makes it, in my opinion at least, and this song is good evidence of that. Otherwise, you find people just skipping around to the "drop", and the song itself is not taken seriously. I want to enjoy the piece as a whole, not just the "drop" that people look for. Sea of Voices is so good, I love how long it takes to build up, slowly lifting you up, as you become more and more enthralled by these sounds, until the climax arrives, and at that point you're just floating to the music. So beautiful, I truly have yet to find a song quite as powerful as this. Easily the best song I've ever heard.

@river446
@river446 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The point is not the destination but the journey, which also makes the finally-getting-there so much more meaningful. You are now not listening simply to a moment in time, but to a story, a story of life and death and rebirth, rise and fall and rise again. And when it finally fades away, you know it is not truly "done," that it continues in yourself, and you now can and will rise again... Sorry for getting all philosophical about that, this song tends to do that to me. But I absolutely get what you are saying here.

when i was in senior high, i recommend this song as an opening song of my school music extracurricular/Music class concert to the leader of the concert and the teacher, they just said this song is not good, even some of my friend said this song's weird. I don't think this is a bad or a weird song, Porter made this song with his imagination and his pure skill, even this is one of the best song and have the sickest drop beside Grand Escape and Fix You. But for my friends if you read this just remember, you've made a huge mistake :)

I had one of the most special experiences of my life with this song in 2019. I met a guy at an electronic music festival and I had a strong connection with him, that night was just incredible. A few days later I received a message from that guy and it was just this song, I was alone in my bedroom at 1.00AM when I started to listen to sea of voices and I've never heard something like this, it was like a strong light coming into my soul, just magic. Two years later I can say I will never forget that guy and this song, they meant the beginning of a new musical era for me.

Wind chimes remind me of when I lived in my other house; a simpler time. When I wasn't worried about the future, and the present all at the same time. This song gives me a feeling of peace, and happiness, with a hint of sadness because I know that life is gone, at least for now... Edit: This is more of a vent, because my parents are also stressing out, so I have no-one to tell this to and wanted to get it off my chest. Thanks for reading. :)

+Christian Rumsey I doubt Martin Garrix will make such works of art when he's 22. He made Animals when he was 17 I believe. Ari Karim is saying that Porter already has both an understanding AND mastery of his art at a very young age. His songs don't simply consist of catchy beats and big drops like most young artists...they're works of art. That is remarkable for someone so young to be so mature already
@jonmizzz2638
@jonmizzz2638 8 жыл бұрын
I like Martin Garrix but I know he isn't that talented. Martin is cookie cutter big room house shit to be honest. His EP is rather repetitive and the 4 songs except Gold Skies all sound similar and he got a fuckload of DJs to help him produce the EP. One song has like 4 fuckin Djs, it's almost like he is getting ghost produced. His music is basically just easily manufactured big room house stuff with all the typical cookie cutter shit like the big drop and the typical house beat. Porter Robinson on the other hand is special. He is extremely talented and his music is complex, experimental, deep, beautiful, and simply gripping. Porter is definitively one of the most talented, creative, original producers. He is miles ahead of Martin Garrix.

I doubt anyone ever reads my comments but I remember listening to this song with a girl I was dating and sharing the magical moment with her. It is currently April 12, 2020 and I am across the country from her because of the current epidemic sending all college students back home. But it does not matter, since we broke up a while ago and she has a new boyfriend to bring light into her world. I'm not writing this to receive pity or sympathy, I just want to move on. It's been roughly seven months since we broke up and she clearly moved on, why can't I? why do random obscure objects such as this song remind me of her? I hate missing her. If the girl I am referring to ever does come across this comment(which I highly doubt because this isn't her type of music) I just want you to know that out of all the relationships I have had, you were the realest. You were the one who I could envision spending the remainder of my life with. Despite everything that has happened, I still genuinely love you and I hope you are doing alright.

It took until my sophomore year of college to fully get over her. But I eventually did! And I’m so glad I put the effort in to getting through all the hard days. There is so much more to life than the present circumstances. Just try to take it one day at a time

Honestly, I get this. Sometimes you just never forget about them, which is fine. You know love is like a rose its beautiful and painful due to it's thorns. Your feelings and memories won't disappear, but in time it won't hurt you as much anymore. So it's alright if it hurts you now. What you had is real and sometimes it just takes time. Time may not heal all wounds but it can, if you take good care of yourself and focus on your happiness. Sometimes the pain may leave a scar but if you heal yourself first it won't hurt anymore. Keep focusing on yourself and what you want to do. Focus on your goals and how to make yourself happier. Take care of yourself, sometimes we love someone so much we forget to treasure ourselves. Give yourself time to heal and also surround yourself with people who care about you.

this song. this song saved me. 2020 dec i was diagnosed with depression. i was barely eating, never getting out of bed, constantly sleeping. all i did was sleep or cry my eyes out, i felt there was nothing left in the world to live for. it was like the world had its colour and life sapped out of it, i was seeing through a monochrome lense almost. i discovered porter and i listened to this song. for the first time in months i felt just a spark of serotonin. it reminded me that happiness was still possible and not out of reach. ill never forget this song til the day i die. im so glad to be alive, because of porter.

Glad you're still here :) I love Porter for a lot of the same reasons, not just for his music, but his openness on struggling with depression and anxiety as a creative person too really hits home for me. I always feel a lot less alone and more in tune with my empathic nature listening to his stuff, and it makes me want to continue with my own music. I remember listening to this the day after my dog died, I went for a walk at the park just to distract myself, but I just ended up feeling alone , and I cried a lot at the park. It was just me , it’s a hidden park, so there was no one there , except for like 2 homeless people living there. There’s a field in the middle, filled with flowers bunch of trees surrounding too, I was walking towards the bright sun, and it was really ... I don’t know how to describe it, it just made me feel mentally better and it was beautiful. I have accepted her death, she always shows up in my dreams now, so , I feel like she’s (my dog) just waiting for my family and I on the other side. Okay, anyways, I’m supposed to draw Reigen Arataka , I have no idea how I ended up here, well bye.

+Nekosmith I have a feeling you have yet to learn that everyone experiences things different. yes in comparison, the starving children is "worse" I guess, but we have no way of experiencing that so to us, what we're feeling personally is the worse TO US AND US ALONE. think about that next time you say it.

Underestimated Usually first of all, what you said made no use of grammar whatsoever. normally I would be okay with that, but it is to the point of not being able to understand you almost at all. second of all, us getting used to our first world lives doesn't mean that it's ok for starving children getting used to starving. if you're used to being in constant pain, it may not feel like as big of an issue to you compared to other people, but it still would bother you a lot more than people who don't have many troubles in their lives.

This feels like Heaven on Earth... when I listen to this, I feel like I am a small part of something bigger than myself... as is everyone else. We choose who we want to be, and that makes us who we are... all different, but connected... deep down inside. Everyone has a purpose. You matter! You have the power to make a change... to change people's lives, just by what you say! Everyone has a choice... it's up to us, as individuals, what we do with that ability. So, whenever your feeling like you've lost or you can't find your purpose in life... just keep living, and be a positive influence... because life is short. It's alright to feel sad or angry... just don't let those emotions consume you. Live your life to it's fullest capacity... and enjoy every second of it.

I never thought music could touch you so much. Touch you so much your chests gives a small gasp as if it’s inhaling for the first time. As if every breath is knocked out of you. This song just makes me feel like the end is near. But I feel like someone is there. At the end of a tunnel. I may not know them. But I’ve been waiting for them. You can see the final beam of white flash through and as if the earth is taking a final breath,the trees stir for a minute. You feel the sleep kick in and it’s like you’re leaving on another journey. A journey for which you’ve been preparing. A curl of a smile,eyes glinting. You look back on this Earth. Look at the trees whispering softly amongst each other,at the wind softly singing now. At the sun bleeding into slivers of ink and flames And your heart aches for minute. You think of cosmic flares of everything you’ve been through. All for it to end. But you remind yourself that you’re never truly alone. Even if your comfort are phantom arms. “It does look beautiful at the end” you mused.

There's plenty of electronic music that's not necessarily big room... Some (NOTE: some) people are acting like Porter is a musical savior who's the first in DJ culture to ever make music that's not necessarily 'mainstream'.

I wrote a little story while listening to this: You're walking through an open white space. The ground is glass, like the back of an iPhone. When you look up, you see ice crystals floating in the air, like little diamonds, twinkling daintily. You keep walking, and as you trek further into this place you see beautiful sculptures of packed snow. You don't know what they are, but their shapes bring indescribable feelings out of a place that doesn't exist. Some evoke tears, some bring out memories, some are just there to be. There's a sense of feeling warm and cold simultaneously, and you feel a phantom hand on your shoulder. Nobody is there but you. "Let's see creation come undone..." Everything happens in a matter of seconds. The floor fades away from underneath you as the ice crystals shatter and fall. The sculptures fall apart into bits, but don't melt. The room turns dark, and you descend down. At first, you panic. You're in freefall. You can't see the ground. Terminal velocity haunts you like unpaid student debt. The music is at such a high volume you want to sing along, but with death's shadow so close to your side, you can't help but scream. As the ice falls past you, you can see yourself reflected back. Except, it's memories of you. Some are your own. Many aren't. In some you're the best person ever. In others you're a demon. A few see you as witty, hilarious, a great friend. One sees you as a speck of dust, an ant. Before you know it, all the frozen water bits have flown past you. With nothing left to do, you shut your eyes and wait for impact. "Let's see creation come undone..." All of a sudden, you stop falling, as if grabbed by an invisible hand. and gently lowered to the ground. The ice has become a pool of the clearest water you've ever seen. "These bones that bound us will be gone..." The area begins to lighten once more, trickling from black to space grey, to white. It's now warm. You feel a hug. You're still alone, but it feels nice nonetheless. The shape is familiar to you. A grin arrives on your face. "We'll stir our spirits til' we're one..." The snow from the sculptures begins to fall, the flecks resting in your hair as the spirit comforts you. The room fades between pale, dim colours. Mint, lemon, lavender, strawberry, ocean... "The softest shadows we'll become." You don't know what'll happen next, despite all that's happened before. All you know is you're here now, and that's alright. You blink. . . . You wake up.

This song makes me wish the world wasn't ending. Everything's falling apart. Global warming, rising tension between nations, the surging and evolving pandemic, corporate control, brutality and discrimination, all the bullshit happening. We're at the beginning of our societal endgame. But I just want to embrace the beauty of the world, one last time. If we can't save it, at least give us the memories of it to cherish forever. I wish... I wish we could remedy the chaos. I really do. But there is no free and worthy future, not when we're trying what we're trying. You want a bright and prosperous tomorrow? You can only get there through bloodshed, revolution and pain. And it saddens me that this is the only path to redemption, of people and planet. I didn't want this. Did any of us? But this is what we get, what we have to deal with.

Mad props to Porter for doing non big room stuff on his new release despite being blown up n all. I think only a few producers have his kinda mindset..Mat Zo comes to mind, his damage control album was amazing. I just hope the rest of Porter's tracks are as good as this if not better. Sea of Voices sounds more like an intro.

Exactly!!! I didn't see your comment until I wrote mine up top, but I agree emphatically. This definitely has the feel of STRICTLY an Intro song, and will be mixed into something upbeat and bass-driven right as this one ends. If this is indeed the intro track; then fine, but if the whole album is slow and dreary like this song, I will be very disappointed!

December 14, 2020 there was a total eclipse. You could see it here in Chile, so I went to the park outside my mom's building with my brother to see it. We grab our eclipse glasses and watched the moon travel over the sun, softly darkening the whole city. I remember listening this song that day, while feeling the breeze through my hair, thinking how ephemeral we are. The day after that I found out I had cancer. This song still reminds me that we are here for a short period, and then soft as shadows we'll become. Thank you Porter for putting this feeling into a beautiful song.

There was this girl that I started liking two weeks before the shut down for the pandemic happened, I thought I’d stopped liking after a month, but then one month turned into two, then into three, then five. Finally, nine months had passed before I couldn’t hold it in anymore and confessed. She later on said she liked me back, but the dream was short lived after she broke up with me a month later. During that month in which she claimed that she liked me, I spent hours writing a poem for her, in that poem, I wrote on how Sea of Voices was the song that I listen to in order to suppress my feelings for her, and how that it didn’t work. After the break up, I analyzed everything and determined that she never actually liked me in the first place. Listening to this now though, I get to hear Sea of Voices for it’s beauty again and not for combating a feeling. Now that I’ve learned from my failed relationship, for the next person I like, I won’t listen to Sea of Voices for the same reason as I did for this past girl, but rather, I want to listen to this song, experience this masterpiece in supporting my feelings, so that I may share to her how this beautiful song helped strengthen my love for her, and maybe, that girl would hear Sea of Voices and hold it dear in her heart as I have done.
