Awesome. Luv how the scape is coordinated with the design elements of outside room and space.

I highly recommend everyone purchase a copy of the Senske’s Aquarium book. One of my favorite books in my collection.

In order to hide the plumbing that’s visible on the bottom of the tank. I would’ve painted the bottom interior surface a gray or black that the tank is sitting on. The same gray color that’s used in the footboard (slate stone) against the wall and floor. But the tank/aqua scape looks amazing!

Impressive installation and beautiful hardscape. But I am of those who consider aquariums as enclosed biotops or pieces of nature and not sculpture, therefore it doesn't look complete to me. I think it can look minimalist with plants too.... and more living. I don't think these discus are going to get their full colors and nice behavior in a sterile and bright environement like this one.

Dimensions? Equipment? Looks drilled but no overflow, so maybe a big canister on closed loop? Lighting?

Really nice looking hardscape and design. Would you mind sharing the wood used and where to collect/purchase? Thanks!

Discus hate that kind of set up. Bright lights, people who just walk up too fast..and sharp wood. You would have been much better to use Altum Angels. I'm sure by now half the fish are dead. Discus have to be the WORST fish to stock a client's tank with. With the open top? Angels....Water lilys,LED spotlights on them in shallow attractive pots..and they will bloom. Simple, elegant.

Totally agree, a Discus torture tank, nice design for the owner, poor design for the Discus, but what the fuck, they are just a piece of furniture.

I totally agree with you, i would even say that the tank is not suited for altums or any type of angel neither as they bascally have the needs as discus and come from the same biotops. This sculture tank is only ok for some coldwater fishes like goldfishes or maybe only tetras but even they will not be comfortable...

The only thing that I really see wrong with it for discus is the excessive lighting (which imho is a total waste for a hardscape anyway). Its the excessive use of manzanita branches and some spiderwood pieces that is known to poke eyes out. That just looks like malaysian drift wood, which actually is beneficial for discus I would think. What kills me is all that money to blow on a display tank, and they pick those genetically weak, recessive trait asian produced yellows over some high grade wilds. On the bright side, I'm sure the fish enjoy this better then the cramped barebottom with 4 sponge filters bubbling on full blast non friggin stop that they came from originally. Discus dont seem to mind higher light as long as the on cycle isnt too long and there are some floaters around for cover.

@@chrisparodi6493 Actually, they do fine on sponge filters and bare tanks. Add the dim breeder lighting..like one bulb for the whole room thing, and the lack of human traffic in a basement..they thrive in that. Plus breeder tanks are likely to be at 88F,even 90f..I'm sure this show tank in more like a 75 chilly degrees. Discus are one of those fish that just hate the human idea of what they look best in. They do not agree!

I don’t like seeing the pipes through the acrylic bottom.

with that super bright light cyanobacteria are coming and then it will not look so good.
