Great video! I first went to Valentia Island with my parents when I was eight and then spent every autumn and Christmas holidays there for ten years until I moved to Leipzig. By the way, did you notice both Portmagee and Valentia Island have English names that sound totally different from the official Irish ones? Well, a lady who lived on Valentia Island and with whom I occasionally practised my Irish told me that, like Dublin, both places have inofficial Irish names from which the English names originate: The official name of Portmagee is An Caladh ('the ferry'), the inofficial one is Port Mic Aoidh ('Port of the son of Aodh'). In the same way, while the official name of Valentia Island is Dairbhre ('oakgrove'), the inofficial one is Béal Inise ('mouth of the island'), which comes the closer to 'Valentia' the faster you speak. The b -> v change might be due to seimhiú ("lenition"), one of the two morpheme-initial consonant mutations in Irish. Apparently nothing to do with Valencia in Spain, where, curiously enough, people can actually distinguish between b and v, unlike in the rest of Spain. I might of course be misinformed, so take it with a pinch of salt, and if you find a mistake, please tell me.
