Music and lyrics by the Sherman brothers. Music conducted by Irwin Kostal. Rights belong to Disney. An amazing song that used music to unite different cultures and races.

Old musicals have a magical thing about them.

Nice blending of the best bits from the original album version & the film's actual soundtrack. I like that it concludes with the reprise off the album, so we get to hear the final line which is cut short by spoken dialogue in the movie. My favorite bit of the Portobello Street Dance is from around 7:51 to 8:44, which is so upbeat & boisterous, but only fully heard in the longer, reconstructed version of the film. Thanks for sharing this unique audio exercise!

Wonderfully edited compilation to truly let everyone enjoy the full version of the song. There is also a solo line where the youngest child Paul (Roy Snart) is shown at the shellfish vendor stand and sings: “You can eat like a king in the Portobello Road”. This is just before David Tomlinson’s bit with the piano. As far as the actual market, I remembered it being a truly intriguing place, when I lived in London from 1970-1972, amidst childhood memories of wine gums, “The Magic Roundabout” animated series, the parks, museums and other truly fond memories and places one would associate with Great Britain. When I first saw the film, actors were costumed outside and I asked the King Leonidas character what happened to his Asteroth star necklace and he sadly but cleverly responded: “they stole my star!” Also I remember seeing the film again on my twelfth birthday back then (plus a few other times!) but most likely the edited version, and I’m very glad they restored the deleted scenes many years later to add to the plot and let us enjoy more musical numbers. I’ve heard there was a stage adaptation in England, so as others have commented it would be great if that were to be transferred to the US.

Thank you very much for this, any love to this fantastic film is always appreciated by me, nice work
This cut is incredible in catching all the variations of the theme in the film! Only one question, why so much reverb?

Is that a real album?? Or a fan-made?

The picture is of a real soundtrack album, but the audio is from both the soundtrack and the film, as the film contains music that isn't featured in the soundtrack.

It's just only remix from an original film and soundtrack since it was reconstructed differently; even fading color in its original workprint was cut.
