I’ve always been confused with gender in Portuguese; it’s felt less consistent to me than Italian and I didn’t understand why. “O cinema” and “a coração” just felt weird to say given the last letters not matching the articles. But now knowing the ema/ama = masculine and ção/gem/ade = feminine rules will help me a LOT with remembering gender. Muito obrigado *pela* explicação! 😂

I got it! A and an. I always wondered why they made such a difference in English. Portuguese has an interesting difference. Is the word "difference" masculine then? Cool.

Hi Mia, do you have l' like l'ospedale (it) or l'hôpital (fr)? What happens when a group of mixed genders, in English we say these guys...
@MiaEsmerizAcademy
@MiaEsmerizAcademy 3 жыл бұрын
Olá! No, we don't have that like in French. We do put the article together with the prepositions at times like: de + o = do, for example. I will speak about this in my next video actually :) So stay tuned. About the mix genders, we always use the masculine, like if you have girls and boys together we will use "os" or "eles". Only if you have only women or girls would you use "as" or "elas". I hope this helps :)
