There is a racial component to it, just because white people who are in these communities sometimes talk like that too doesn’t take that away. And it’s racist because you are acting like it’s a gangster accent when in reality it’s just a regional accent, obviously gangsters from that area are going to speak that way but that doesn’t mean that it’s a gangster accent. It’s a reason why when this accent comes up plenty of white people talk down on it and it has to do with with race.
