Ceri, here comes a little story. I have my origin in the Fiskars Village in Finland. My grandfather, my mothers father, lived and worked his hole life in Fiskars, he worked at the Fiskars factory. We have our homes full of Fiskars scissors and knives, shovels, garden tools etc etc. My mother grew up in Fiskars and moved away when she met my father, so I have not grown up there. I now live in Sweden. But, it is an amazing vacation tip to travel to Fiskars, take a guided tour through the factory museum and then shop at the factory shop and outlet. The village is stunning in the summer, full of artist like glass blowers (Bianco Blue), wood carvings, art exebitions, a blacksmith working as they used to do back in the days, there is a french chocolateria, pastry shop/café etc etc. ...beautiful village with a mill in the river going through it, green, lush, peaceful. The drive there is like travelling through a fantasy forest. Just before entering the village, beside the lake, you go through a tunnel in the mountain and then the village opens up on the other side...it is stunning. I took trips to Finland to visit my parents before I became ill and every summer we took a trip to Fiskars, later on with my kids. They long to go back there one day, both of them today grown ups and both of them artists. Back when, I didn´t craft, so I never got crafting items, oh my would I love to go to that outlet. ... just a little story, I cannot hear Fiskars and see scissors and not think of the village, my grandfather etc ❤/ Camilla

I love postage stamps! You can also use a hair thinning scissors. It's more ragged of an edge but they are at least easy to find. I would say that the next time you get your hair cut, take a square and test the stylists thinning scissors :)

I love watching this tutorial and have been going back to it several times. Ceri, you have no idea how helpful this video is. I just recently got a sizzix big shot as a BD gift from my daughter. I love this machine and mostly because it's manual. At 67 years of age and never have had any knowledge of anything computerized I'm so happy with the big shot. I've purchased a few dies on Amazon from a company called Globeland and I'm very happy with the quality. The prices are fantastic. I thought I had bought a stamp for it but it was for labels and frames. I will buy a postage stamp due. However you showed me how I can make stamps using the postal scissor or a zig zag. I happen to own probably at least 20 different types of scissors. Anyway thank you for this instruction about postage stamps. 👍❤❤❤😊

Love these stamps, I made some the other day with vellum butterfly stickers that had very fussy frames… I trimmed the frame to a narrow border then put the stickers onto different background papers. Cutting with postage scissors made it easy to get the right size for the stamp edge around any size sticker.

Mister Ceri! Olfa makes a rolling perforation blade that I just love for mocking up stamp edges. When I say rolling, I mean like a fabric rolling rotary blade thing! It might be an option, too. Love your stamp techniques. I saw the other video you made, and I still think this is so very clever! Thank you for sharing, and teaching us.

Hi Ceri. I was lucky enough to get the stamp edge scissors from my niece that used to do scrapbooking. Also, look in men's clothing catalogs. I've found some good images there. I look for the thumbnail images showing what design is on each t-shirt. (I found an awesome image of an eagle, wolf and retro tie dyed and peace sign☮️ images. Fun stuff. TFS Hope you have a great day. 🌞

Hi, Ceri. Love love love your faux stamps. Ive made some before using some mini size rubber stamps and thumbnail images off the back of small desk calendars but youve really opened my eyes to look in magazines. Why did i not think of that before!?! Duh! And thank you for pointing out about the thickness (thin ness?) of paper. I used thin cardstock but felt something was "off" and i think you nailed it. I also like the sewing pattern tracing wheel idea someone suggested in the comments. One tip id like to share is that if you can find the Fiskars Small Scallop scissors, just flip them over so instead of cutting the scalloped edge youre cutting the "negative" edge, if that makes any sense. I have a die, but just one (part of a set of misc shapes) so have to do alot of cuts. Too tedious for me! I will look for the dies like yours. Thanks for all you share!

Years ago we would use a sheet that had the inside lines of a stamp. Then we would place a template over the outlines but not on the lines. The template had holes. Within the openings we would paint, use inks, etc. We would stamp images, etc. After we removed the template , we had stamps with the paper edge. We cut them out with, you guessed it, the fiskar scissors

Francoise Read has just released a die for Woodware that cuts a small page of stamps. There is also a stencil that goes with it and lots of clear stamps to use as fillers as part of the 'Mon Jardin 2' collection. Woodware stamps and dies are good quality and competitively priced, in my experience.

Hi Ceri, love the inspiration! I got a 2nd hand Big Shot with the magnetic plate for $35 off of fb marketplace a couple of years ago. I do have the smaller die that you have with the ticket but hadn't done anything with it yet. Waffle Flower now markets a postage stamp collage card that is nice but since I have a die I will just stick stamps together and "use what I have" :) About the time you think you have enough ephemera another fun idea comes along! Thanks for sharing.

After cutting and stamping ink dries, I bet if you lightly rub the front of the stamp with a beeswax candle, then gently heat it to melt the wax and afterwards rub the excess off with a paper towel before it cools that it will give most bare papers the semi-gloss translucency of actual stamps.

Good evening Ceri, how are things on your side of the pond? Hope your doing well. Enjoyed this video. Have you tried using a sewing tracing wheel? It’s used in sewing and for instance, on the bat stamp, you could have just ran the tracing wheel along the edge and you would have an edge that looks like a stamp. Enjoy your weekend! 🌻
