I used to try and run in the saucony endorphin speed despite having tibialis posterior injuries and the instability was terrible for me. Switched out to the Asics Gel Kayano Lite 2 and the difference is amazing, started using this as my daily trainer and the added stability is really helping me! injury is healing and hopefully i'll be back running at 100% soon, thanks for the recommendation guys! Keep up the great work!

I got injured running in the speeds twice! Idk why I keep trying. Bad calf strain and then a pirformis strain that caused terrible tailbone and back pain

Great timing! I’ve been dealing with this for a couple of weeks (seeing my PT tomorrow). Started to flare up after a calf strain.

The Kinvara has always been a solid shoe for me and is the shoe I go to to comparing any other lightweight trainers that I try. My biggest running goal is to run get back over 2500 miles this year.

Super helpful that I found this episode right as I’m having a PT flare up! Wanted to see what shoes I should try and had been thinking about the kinvaras so I’ll be giving those a try!

@@DoctorsofRunningsame! Especially since I am already in orthotics. Posted shoes don’t seem to help, only give me a pronounced arch feeling and some plantar pain. A rocker helps, but there are no high drop rocker shoes I know of and low drop seems to exacerbate it.

Definitely need an update - Thought I had my perfect rotation of shoes but now the post-tib is talking to me again and I'm looking through the current shoe options.

I recently got diagnosed with pttd. More pain in my arch than at the ankle. Tight calves, PF, overpronation in my right foot (most likely due to an injury a few years ago). This flared up when trying to convert to barefoot/minimalist shoes and Altras (zero drop). Once I went back to higher drop (12mm) with some arch support (insole) and stability (pronation), things have really calmed down. That combo is really helping me- I'm in Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 right now. Starting PT to get my foot and ankle strength up so maybe I can reset my transition back to minimalist shoes. Sometimes the best shoe is what keeps you running. Cheers!

First goal is to find my favorite race distance and haven’t tried a 10k/50k/100k. So signed up for 100k in June in Wisconsin. Second goal is to see how close I can get to bq marathon time.

This year I just want to hit a healthy weight and I'd be totally stoked if I could set new PRs from 5k to half marathon. Last year I could only manage a 3-minute PR in the half marathon because I honestly raced too much, too often (including 4 ultras) and eventually injured myself by twisting my right ankle during a speed session. I'm now slowly getting back to it and this morning I managed a respectable 21:12 5k, which is more than I expected. Working towards sub 20 this year. Wish me luck!

I've just recovered (hopefully) from a Post tib injury. I've found the Hoka Mach 4 with simple off the shelf insole has been fantastic. It's got me back moving, and now my post tib is feeling good I'm easing my way off using the insole.

Just found this from of course doing a search on posterior tibialis pain, great video! Good to see some people with some knowledge on the subject and also thanks for the recommendations. May have to give a pair a try though of course will go for a gait check first. You know it's a good video when someone is pulling out the skeleton

I'm training for a marathon in april aiming for 2:45 and will attempt a sub 35min 10k later in the summer. I'm training by feel without a dedicated plan. So I'm doing 1/2 long runs and 1/2 speed sessions per week. Add in 1/2 days of cross training to relax and avoid injury (primarily shin splints).

I have PTT and y’all the topo spectrums are my favorites right now. More stable in the forefoot and there’s a rocker but super light and very cushioned. I get the controversy but obviously not everyones foot or foot problems are exactly the same. I cringe when anyone recommends a stability shoe for flat feet. My flat feet cannot handle that arch support in most stability shoes. I also I rotate between the spectrum and the cyclone 2. I forefoot strike becuse I tend to run sprints on the treadmill, but so far the topos are working great.

Guy's, its like you read my mind! Have ben struggling with this since my last marathon in September and have been trying to decide what is my safest but fastest shoe option for my marathon in 5 weeks! For my daily runs I've been using the Saucony Triumph 19 and it has done wonders for the pain. I have the Adios Pro 2, Vaporfly 2 and Metaspeed Sky, any suggestions? I ran 20 miles this morning in the Adios, it was okay, could feel some tenderness but workable if it was to stay like that. I land midfoot, maybe slightly further back. Any tips appreciated and thank you for the great content as always :)

Just doing workout at the gym for strength was not making me run better anyone. But since I started to do Pilates lessons 3x power week , my running for 10x better ... Before the pandemic I did not have enough leg/feet/hips strength to run more then twice a week on the road/ sidewalks and I had to stay at the treadmill . Anyways , a good personal trainer at a good gym can do as well as Pilates lessons, just explain to the PT that you want strong legs to run and not to deadlift 5,0000 pounds.

Can be caused from weak, collapsed arches or weak lower feet muscles from standing too long, being overweight. Swelling at the PT can be helped by night splints. Also, run on the banked side of road supports that tender foot arch. Can be prevented by running on sand, gravel which strengthens feet muscles and by wearing flexible shoes. Weighted slow feet raises also help. Also, work on muscle activation by landing on balls of the feet and pop up by focusing on using the lower feet muscles (arch and adjacent lower feet muscles). It can be a long term recovery process. Avoid orthotics--will just prolong it.

@Doctors of running: I developed Tibialis posterior tendinopathy/tendonitis in late 2021; after increasing mileage on the Endorphin Speed 2 Runshield. My right foot bottoms out just standing on it with static loading, and doesn’t appear to pronate properly; you can see the ankle collapse standing on the right foot, and especially so in the Speed 2 RS. Physio had me do targeted exercises to strengthen the ankle, but I had to also switch shoes. The Endorphin Shift 2 has provided the best results by far for that ankle; it’s ridiculously stable and has great arch support. Do you have any advice for osteoarthritis of the first metatarsal joint?

I think I'm done with the Kayano line after my 27, but may give the Kayano Lite 3 another chance for that safe easy day shoe. Loving the Tempus (daily) rotating with Shift V1 and Kayano. Hoka Carbon X2 and Zoom Fly 4 for tempo/fast-long, Kinvara (RIP DS Trainer) and Saucony Endorphin Pro 1/2 for short and long speed/racing respectively. The biggest avoidances are anything cushiony (Speed, Novablast, Invincible, AphaFly), and clunky flat stability shoes, just because they are joy killers. Also experimenting with Curex Low Profile insole ONLY in my flattest foot (open to your feedback) and KT Tape for ankle support. That has allowed me to do speed work again with no hamstring, hip issues on the opposite side. #bigbonedflatfootedrunner

Just came across this video. Have had post tib tendonitis for a few weeks following a trail race. Been doing more mobility work and single leg exercises, put in stiff arch support insoles (Sole) at suggestion of podiatrist, have not run in about three weeks, and prob going to look into a PT also. Typically run in Altra Superiors and have been for years. Wondering if you have any suggestions for trail specific shoes that could help as I heal up and start running again?

Thanks for the comparison to the DS Trainer! I couldn’t get a good fit with those but have been considering the Kinvara as a lightweight cross trainer (I prefer to train in running shoes). kinvara seems more flexible than the ds trainer but worth a try.
