Hi Becca, unless my Crock-Pot is different than yours, you can set it for 4-8 hours (whatever the recipe calls for) and when it reaches that time it goes into a warming mode. It keeps it at a high enough temperature so it's not in the danger zone, but doesn't overcook it either
