Feel like this is what adds a bit of a dynamic to PKO tourneys :p /calling wider better pot odds due to the value of opponents bounty. And the opposite ICM situations calling tighter due to payout implications but if you don't know how to estimate your opponents ranges at the baseline you definitely won't know how to adjust :p So yeah learning the equities vs certain ranges is necessarily like in the first range your aqo is a peice of trash but vs the second range it's a powerhouse. k8o vs k5s is intersting def a difference if you're in a domination nation situation as well.

How do u make this calculation? I find that I fold to much with K high for example, while its actually too high in my range to fold the hand. When u are OOP I find it even harder of course…

At 6.55. when you whip out the calculator. You say we have call 27.8 to win 'our 30, their 30 and the blinds and antes'. The 'our 30' part is what we're about to put in the pot? It wouldn't be we have to call 27.8 to win just 'their 30 and the blinds and antes'? Which would drastically change the odds? Sorry if I've missed something, still learning and this part confused me 🙂

I had a similar scenario the last time I played a cash game. I had A,Qo and guy shoves all in pre-flop. At the time I wasn't to familiar with the guy so after thinking for a min I folded. After a while he got called after he shoved a few times. Every time he had junk hands. So now I'm regretting throwing away my AQo. I probably had him crushed on that hand.

@rawrizord
@rawrizord Жыл бұрын
You have to estimate/build an educated guess based on the hands they play from certain positions, how tight they are, how knowledgeable they are on the game(you can usually infer this by their bet sizing and aggression/use of position), you can never be entirely certain but there are certain ranges of hands that are objectively good to play and as a player gets closer to being the button they will open that range up since they are past to act. They can use the information gained from watching everyone else act to infer how strong their hands are. There's no exact science to it other than obviously you're going to play premium hands and pocket pairs, so those should always be in a person's range. Hope this helps? Feel free to comment back and we can dig deeper into the subject

@datsumcrzysht
@datsumcrzysht 2 жыл бұрын
The 33.5 includes the 13.8 you’re about to put in for the call. So it’s the amount to call divided by the total pot after the call. For example let’s assume there’s a game without blinds, and someone goes all in for $10. Now you have you have to call $10 making it $10/$20=1/2=50%…meaning that it’s even money.
@siddharthdutta3360

@@datsumcrzysht Thank you, 42% is correct. I miscalculated doing it the other way. There is 2.2 +2.5 BB (1BB+1 ANTE +.5SB) in the pot. Tight player shoves for 13.8BB effective making the pot 18.5 BB. So to get 18.5 BB we need to call 13.8 BB. which is 1.3:1 giving us 42%.

You know, I certainly believe in all the math you talk about re pot odds and equity. But I have to ask this: what freaking card rooms are you playing in that allows you to consult your computer before each decision? And nowhere in this video (or any other that I've seen) do you explain the "magic" behind the equity calculation, so that one could learn how to derive this figure without a slew of electronics. This is what I find ridiculous about this kind of analysis. It's useless in live poker. One might get fast enough with these "tools" to use them in an on-line setting, but never in live, in-person games.
