It also helps that when it's terrible, he holds nothing back... Genuine reactions of disgust, complete with the sass in full effect. Such classics as "It tastes like a shower drain, or a bunyan..." So when he lights up and says it's great, ya know man is coming from the heart.

Well, @@BDylanHollis since noone has been forth-coming with recipes, I'm going to hazard a WAG. I suspect these are simply sugar cookies (recipe is as ubiquitous as sugar in cookies), with Jello packets substituted for part or all of the sugar. Either that, or someone added gelatin to a sugar cookie recipe. If it's Jello packets, if you consider the flavorings, it might be equally interesting to try the same with KoolAid (or FlavorAid) packets. That's my Wild-Ass-Guess and I'm stickin' to it.

When I was a correctional officer, my inmates always surprised me with what they could make in their cells with just a hot pot and things they bought at the commissary. One of their favorites was a baked potato made from potato chips. Take a bag of potato chips ( sour cream and onion works best ) crush it up, add a little water, roll the bag up tightly put in your hot pot for 45 minutes to an hour. Take it out it's just like a baked potato without the skin !!!! 😊

I have a recipe for these from the 70’s that does not use Chocolate Chips and included the Potato Chips in the cookie. I make them every Christmas and they are a favorite.

Needs to be said. You have single handedly dug up and resurrected my love of baking! Best of luck to you in the future. And if you wish to bake something Swedish, besides the meat ring, I suggest you try our cinnamon rolls or buns, the translation is a bit wonky. I'd be happy to make a copy of and translate my family's recipe.

I make potato chip cookies every year for Christmas but my recipe doesn't call for chocolate chips or rolling the cookie balls in the crushed chips. We also use ridged/wavy chips for extra crunch. It turns out a bit like shortbread, and optionally you can dust them with powdered sugar. They're my favorite each year so I will definitely try this variation for the holidays!

I still make potato chip cookies on a regular basis. Was raised on them. BTW, I'm 64 years old and was born in 1958. Ruffles are the best, but Lays-type are great, too. No chocolate chips in the recipe I inherited from my mom.
