You can cut off a green spot and use the rest of the potatoe… checking them regularly to hoe them over with soil - you won’t have any or very few bits of green spots. If the whole potatoe is green NO shouldn’t even try. Your garden is doing great Bri. I’m just beginning to plant now- takes SO long for the snow to melt away here 🥴. There’s a lot I direct sow and almost twice that in my green house. I start seeds first part of March giving some a head start. I open the green house in the mornings and close it at night. If rainy I just do the windows in it. You’ll LOVE having a greenhouse. ( ummm I don’t have young children now who would see it as A FORT LOL ) 😁😁😂.

to wide space between the beds but if you got a lot of land ok . narrower will make the leaves shading for etch other and prevent the sunlight and no big hilling needed . so we do at our farm for decades and never "green potatos and huge yields .

Useful information! I have 4 plants that are 12inchs tall. I'm trying to figure out what to do. This is my first time planting potatoes. I started out with 20 potatoes to plant and only a handful came up. I. Behind the 8ball because my plants are 12 in tall already but I'm going to hill them anyways

Yeah if it's really green all over or you eat multiple green potatoes you'll probably get sick, but I never eat more than one potato so if it's a little green it doesn't cause me illness. It is more crucial, to avoid soft potatoes.
