@@supplyanddemand8835 furthermore, it was clear they were misunderstanding it-not unreasonably-from the start. The artist in the sketch encouraged the misunderstanding. Then there was genuine shock and regret when they were educated. If you make an album with that title and go on a show where your album will be publicized, you are putting yourself in the position to either educate or be misunderstood. He wasn’t unassumingly in a grocery store. Or just with an album called “cool tunes.”

While watching the skit, I looked up "potato hole" to see if it was a real thing and found out that in 2009, Booker T. Jones came out with an album simply called Potato Hole. This skit is definitely based off of that since Dave is dressed like Booker. Also, WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT REVEAL! 😆

Turn on the close captioning for more layers, bitch was in the submitted script (my guess is that the script from dress goes to CC since real time captioning is a mess), but you'll see that Dave added a bit more detail, details that most historians agree are substantiated, if anyone still questions it. But, based on the cadence & pace of the changed lines, I think he practiced it, but it's hard to say, he is a natural orator as well as a comic, he can build emotion without much preparation.

Crazy thing is, the explanation is TRUE. I looked it up, and Dave is giving factual information on the historical significance of the 'potato hole'.

This is one of the funniest SNL episodes I’ve seen so far! Dave’s monologue & the sketches were hilarious! I can’t believe they gave him so much time, but I’m happy they did! Well done!! 😂😂😂
