@@WatchItPlayed everyone thoroughly enjoyed two games of it. I think your video missed the rules where if you’re 3 years old you can take and do anything you want any time you want. But other than that, the game was completely playable from a single watch through of your video. Great work as always!

I saw this game at the fair when it was barely launched. Bought it immediately and it soon became one of the favorite of my elder son. Components are great, and the game is quite easy to be understood. Btw: as house rule we encourage to trigger as many potions and combination one wants to each round, replacing complete potions with new ones immediately. This makes the game funnier for us.

This is a really good game. I played your clip in the background as I made up the very cool dispenser box. By the time I'd made the box I had the gist of the game from your fabulous instructions. I enjoyed the construction too. I am going to take the rules in and colour photocopy the potion definitions so everyone gets one as we didn't use the potions as much as we could have due to just not remembering what they did. It's good you get back up marbles because we did klutz a few onto the floor. I thought the 'junior version' modification that someone suggested below was a good idea too. (First to five potions) I will use that when little people come around because they will love it. Your instructions are great but I think you don't convey the fun element very well. A few people have commented it looks complex and they don't see the fun. It has a high fun quotient.

Hey Deb, so great to hear you enjoyed the game! Our tutorial videos are very much just to teach you, as quickly and thoroughly as possible how to play - we sometimes follow up with play throughs, which allow people to see the game in action. That said, we leave all reviews or opinions on the fun of the game out. What might be fun for one viewer, will not be for another, so I try not to influence people one way or another with my personal biases. Just not an area I want to get into with my content.

Ah, that makes me smile - glad it was helpful! Did you catch the "correction" video I released as well? In short, you can use a potion already scored in a set of 3, as part of a set of 5 different potions as well.

Only question I have, if there are 3+ of one color, and you pull one from the middle... Does that cause an explosion? Game looks really fun! Excellent explanation. (as always)

Yes, if you remove a marble and the ones that click together are the same color, and explosion is caused.

Hello Rodney! As always great how to. I have one misunderstanding which popped into my mind once I re-read the rules twice. In the actual rulebook I didn't see that once you complete 3 potions of the same kind that you can't use potions from that to contribute towards the 5-different potions diploma. So I don't know if I am just blind or misunderstood the rules :/ Thanks in advance for clearing this up if you read this

Great video, Rodney. However, I don't recall the rules talking about how a potion can only be part of a 5-different set or a 3-same set. In fact, the rules say: "In the moment you complete a 3rd Potion of one same kind, you receive a token. In the moment you complete a 5th kind of Potion, you receive a token. That’s it." No mention that that potion should not be already used in a different set, right?

Sorry I missed this comment or I would have responded. This was something I checked with the publisher when creating the video, and they confirmed that it worked the way I presented it here in the video - but I have since seen the original designer say it differently. This is something I'm currently checking to see if it has changed.

I watched this video because I have played this game a lot and I wanted to see how accurate your relaying of the rules were before I watched a different video for a game I had not played. Very good, very detailed and very accurate, except for one point (and I did have to double check this just to be sure I have not been playing incorrectly for a long time). At 10:30 you say that you can not use a potion from one set that gained you a skill token in another set. This is not correct you just cant get 1 skill token per type of set. 1 for 5 different types and 1 per 3 of each type of potion. But the set of 5 different ones can include potions from the sets of 3.

Is there a sequence to the game like do you ALWAYS have to do your regular pick first? Or can you drink a potion then do your regular pick?

You can choose to complete your turn in any order! For example, you might drink one potion, then use your regular pick, and then drink another potion.

I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. When you say Love Potion, do you mean The Potion of Blind Love? Tat effect says you "Steal all the Ingredients from 1 opponent's Pool." Did you have a specific question about that?

Hey Rodney, just a rules question so say your ingredient pool is full and you have 3 or more left over marbles in your hand at the end of your turn, can you swap some of those marbles with the ones already in the pool or because the pool is full you must throw those left overs into the dispenser?

Can you pick from adjacent colors to create an explosion? For Example: If there are 3 yellow marbles in a row And you pick the middle one, do the remaining yellow marbles create an explosion?

Yep! As long as the marbles that clack together match, that causes an explosion.

I had a question, if you do your regular pick that causes an explosion are matching colored marbles taken out only from the vertical column? Or does the explosion happen and any matching colors touching it from the column and row count?

Only vertically. Keep in mind that the columns do not touch across the rows. There is a divider for each column.

Yes. All that matters is the color of the marbles that clack together.

I was playing and came across the colours all in a line. Is it legal to take the center marble and have the other two that were surrounding it now cause an explosion? I believe so, but it seems a bit cheaty to me.

You can absolutely do that. The rule keeps it simple, if what click together matches, that's an explosion.

one thing that is unclear to me, maybe I'm thick :), the rules say once the last skill token is taken the game ending condition is triggered. You play till the rightmost player to the first player has taken a final turn. What if the rightmost player is the one who triggered the end, does the game stop instantly or do you have one more go round. We played it that the game ended instantly since everyone had equal turns at that point.

I think this may be an essential part of any video made. Based on the complexity of the rules, I'd say kids 9+, but I'd be curious to know what the box says.

According to BoardGameGeek it's age rated 8+.

Box values don't tend to mean very much. Usually they are based on how much the company is willing to spend to get the game rated at lower age levels. For example, a game might be playable for 6+, but to get approved to say that, they have to spend money getting specific testing done. So to save the cost, they'll just say 13+ and not have to worry about it, even if the game could technically be played by younger aged children.

I'd avoid saying personally, as I could take two 7 year olds and one would be able to play and the other wouldn't (same could be said for two 30 year olds, honestly :) ). My hope is that a person can watch the video and then make a very educated assessment based on their understanding of their child's own capacity.

Often times when manufacturing a game, you have extra space on at least one of the punch boards, so rather than leave it blank, you use the same punch press, and end up with extras.

Once the count down pile is exhausted, play continues until everyone has had an equal amount of turns. This includes the ability to complete sets or 5 of a kinds that give them skill tokens as well. So for example if the first player in the game (designated by the professor card) later on ends the game by taking the last skill card, the remaining 3 players each get to take one last turn. Rachelle Hunt Remember, you can gain more than 6. Once the first 6 have been collected, it triggers the end of the game, but you keep playing until everyone has had an equal number of turns, meaning more skill tokens could still be collected. You'll find this at 10:46, for more detail.

@@WatchItPlayed And I only heard of it this morning. Too many games out and about to know them all. Looking at the video, 6 years ago. Yikes! This video was on my recommended list and I don't usually look at when they were posted. I like the marble system. it's weird but works in place of card drawing or dice rolling. I don't need to cram my hand into a bag either.

That is weird, because while watching this video and after i was done watching.... i was thinking the complete opposite of you. This game looks really fun, but also very easy, simple and not much to it.
