Citrus are really sensitive to how much water they get - I’ve killed 2 lemon trees so far haha, but I’ve got this lemon tree, a little key lime tree and soon a mandarin tree so really crossing my fingers

Thanks so much for watching and for this comment! That's great advice, definitely something I'll keep in mind for repotting my citrus trees in the future. I've definitely noticed the different water retention in mediums in some of my other indoor houseplants. I thought that fully soaking with a deep watering would help but it's hard to tell what is going on once the old rootball is planted and covered up. Might as well try and avoid that risk altogether with taking to bare root like you suggested

Hello! Aww, that is such a sweet gift from your son 💚❤. Here are the products that I used: What I filled in the container with: 1 part coco coir to 2 parts promix Fertilizers/amendments: - Worm Castings/Ancient Soil/Blooming Soil from Elm Dirt (elmdirt.com) - Jobe's Citrus Fertilizer Everything except probably the Elm Dirt things can be found at the big hardware stores/garden centers. Truly, you don't need all of these products to be successful with your lemon bush - a good quality potting mix and a good, organic citrus granular fertilizer alone would be great for your lemon tree. The most important part to keeping it alive and healthy is going to be watering (and not watering too much - they don't like their roots soaked, let the top 2 inches of soil in your container dry out before you deep water again) and giving it a lot of sunlight. It might experience some shock from coming to a new location and different conditions than it's been used to but if some leaves fall, don't worry and keep taking care of it, it will bounce back. Aw, I'm so sorry you haven't had much luck! It definitely can work - I've seen very successful citrus trees that are completely indoors with my own eyes - but there are certainly a lot of things that can go wrong, sometimes out of our control. I'd advise you to let your tree focus on growth for a couple of years before letting flowers bloom or start to produce fruit if you have a newer/younger tree (just cut the flowers off from the base when they form.) Also, try and fertilize appropriately (at least once in the spring and then once in the summer) and make sure it's getting the most light that it can inside (I have some small supplemental lights on mine while they are inside). Hope that helps or gives you some hope! 😊

@@bellgrowsak It is not easy and I am about to give up. I have it in a big pot and moving it in and out when it gets warm and cold is such a pain in the asset. I can’t stop it from flowering or producing fruits. When I got it, it’s about the one you have in the video. Now it’s 4x bigger already. I did give it some fertilizer last summer but didn’t yet this year.

A year on from this video, I completely agree! I had had it for a little while but was a bit over eager and was also told it’d only be a couple of years before I could harvest but in hindsight, I would have focused more on growth for a little while longer, especially because it had already struggled a bit with pests and acclimating indoors for the winter.
