I have an 8 m/o Lab mix. He knows when I take him outside, it's time to pee. And he pees everytime. Bur he also pees in the house 5 or 6 times a day. I watched your video 3 days ago and started your training methods. He has only had 4 accidents, and those were my fault. For example; not taking him out after play soon enough or letting him stay out of the crate for too long. Your videos are easy to understand and they work. I have watched videos by other trainers on various topics and I found myself still waiting for the training advice when the video ended. It never came. You deliver everytime. Thank you again.

We never really used a crate which made it difficult, but we did get her in trouble when we caught her in the act of going potty. We didn’t get her in trouble if we found a surprise and we didn’t know when she went, because we felt like because of her puppy brain she wouldn’t understand why we”re getting her in trouble. She's old and gone now, but we actually trained our beagle to ring a small bell we had hanging by the back door every time she needed to go to the bathroom. Worked like a charm!

My 4 month old puppy has done pretty well with potty training so far but struggles a little at night. He will wake up and whine before I get up to take him. I’d like to have him settle before I let him out of his crate in order to not reinforce his whining but often he pees before he is settled. I’m a little concerned because the whining in the crate is starting to happen during the day as well, only after 1-2 hours. Just wondering if it is better to let my dog out when they whine, or more frequent potty breaks, or anything other suggestions? Huge fan of all the videos!

here some add ons: larger breed dogs have different bladder control i have found. Smaller breeds go much sooner, so I have been using pee pads in a plastic rectangle box and telling her no while she tries to go on the floor and bringing her inside the box. The area the puppy is in like environment must be a small area, for example like half the size of bedroom or the size of a regular laundry room. They must be able to see the box as they are puppies and reach the box in less than 30 seconds as they will pick up on your habit of taking them. Another thing thats highly important. 8-10 week puppies are a crazy age to even handle they should really be with their mom still. But i had to get mine at 8 weeks wished I had at 12 weeks but whatever your case is, at night, every hour for the first 2 nights take them out their kennel and place the potty box infront of it and grab something to not allow the puppy to simply jump over the box. Say go potty and they will eliminate in it. Its okay if there are crate accidents just keep repeating this every night at most 3 nights should be good to write down the hour the puppy went in the box or within what hours they had accident in the kennel. So therefore the puppy will infact remember the box during the day. feed puppy perhaps at 9pm for dinner and they should go number 2 first thing in the morning. For example by doing the kennel and box nightly thing I found I only had to take her out at 4am 5am and 7 am and then at 8:30-9 she would go number two. That lasted a full week to do and along with during the day training now my puppy by 13 weeks could have her potty box inside her kennel with her bed beside the box and she goes in there at night automatically its really cool to finally sleep. I could have probably done that by 11 weeks but I was still learning haha so hopefully it helps you. During the day I really recommend getting a Tall play pen for your pup for when you can’t watch them and placing the box inside the play pen and youll come home to potty in the box. I suggest getting a potty pad holder with a grid so the puppy wont tear it apart. Make sure the puppy has stuff to occupy them. This is the best advice I can give. oh by the way avoid treats during potty training for some reason young pups may smell that in their feces and be curious by it so only feed them good kibble and give kibble as treat then they will avoid their feces, of course this is for the purpose of potty pad training not outdoors.

I have 2 bichons. The 2 year old boy pees outside or on pee pad inside. The 1 year old mostly pees outside, but sporadically pees on couch (covered with waterproof blanket) or on kitchen floor. She does it right in front of us or when we are not looking. I started potty training her but then I went in the hospital with my daughter for about 8 months and my husband works 40 hour week job so there was not a lot of potty training during this time. The dogs are really attached to each other and will cry if put in cage by themselves. We have a doggy door. Often her tummy looks extremely bloated. Even after long walk she often has bloated belly. She licks her pee pee area all the time. The vet took a urine sample and said “there was crystals but they did not test it right away so crystals could have formed in cup.” Vet did blood work also. Vet said need to potty train better. Should I put both in crate or just her? How long should she be in there before I let her out? Should I take her to another vet for timely urine analysis?

So I have a Bichon Frise who is 7 months but can't hold his pee during the day for more than an hour and a half, sometimes not even that long. What's up? How can I get him to hold it longer? If he has to go he'll just pee whever he is, he doesn't care.

My 4 month old puppy doesn't stop when I catch her in the act even if I clap or make a startling noise. Just empties out completely. If I try to pull her away from the spot she leaves a pee trail. I have reverted to leaving her in her crate when we're indoors because even if she eliminated outside, within a few minutes of coming inside she pees again. She doesn't pee in the crate though, so I know she's capable of holding it. Very frustrating not to be able to have her out with us. I don't know how some owners can have a dog and no crate. Hi Beckman/community. I have a small issue and maybe someone can help me out. I am the owner of a 4 months Jack Russell Terrier. I have him for 2 months now. 3 weeks ago, we were allowed to go outside and start explore the world, since he finished his vaccinations. Until then, he was trained in the house to potty in special training pads. 3 days ago, out of nowhere, he started pering all over the house, ignoring completly the pads. He eats normally and drinks water as usual (4kgs, 500ml of water per day). Initially, I thought that he was sick, but his activities and energy did not change, only this specific behaviour, and that of ignoring the pads completly. I am trying to take him out after each meal to so his potty outside, but in some instances, he still pees inside, wherever he sees fit. Did anyone else experience this with their dog ? Is there a behaviour change that is happening with the dog, from staying inside to going outside ? Thanks in advance.

Can you do a tutorial on correcting barking? My dog goes wild barking at people and dogs. She's a doberman she's very sweet but people think she's being aggressive when she's just excited.

Disagree with the freedom at that age, but I am not an expert. I plan to let my puppy out for short play and training after potty break and put them back in the crate or play pen.

I toilet trained my pup with pads, using shaping method, and he did great. 9 months now and not one mistake since 5.5 months. He chose to go outside for all toilet at 6.5 months, no specific training necessary, just positive reinforcement. Totally disagree you need to crate!!! Sounds like such a hassle!

My little 4 month old puppy started to go pee outside and peed on cue I was shocked...she finally got it...I give her treats when she goes outside...she has had no accidents in the house for 2 days now....I take her out multi times....now if only she can get a stronger bladder....I laugh and say her bladder must be the size of a gnat....
