This is well depicted in the scene where Meruem asks for his name Pitou answer that the King's name should be something that he likes, showing her loyalty to the King's feelings, and to an extent, to Meruem Youpi says that he doesnt have proper knowledge and thus wouldnt give a satisfactory answer to the King, showing that he only serves the duty, no matter what or who the King is And finally Pouf answers that the King has no name but King, showing that for him it doesnt matter what person the King is, it only matters his title and destiny to rule

pouf is another example of an amazing character that we love to hate, very similar to characters like mahito and makima where we want nothing but the worst for them yet we still wanna see how they go out at the end

It really did take me by surprise when Pitou genuinely wanted to protect Komugi. It might have been for the benefit of the King, but Pitou genuinely wanted what was best for Mereum as a person even if it clashed with what had been ingrained in them since birth. Pitou's sense of loyalty went far beyond the blind devotion Pouf and Youpi had for the King. What they wanted more than anything was for Meruem to be happy and the best version of himself he could be. Pitou saw the Komugi made him happy and that was all they needed

Pouf was so in love with the king. He was already perfect to him and didn’t need to change.

This may be an unpopular opinion since most hxh fans find Pouf annoying but I actually liked him a lot. He was doing what he was born to do, protect the king. The king was slowly becoming more humane, he started caring about a human who is only supposed to be a food source for ants. Pouf viewed that as a danger, a threat to the king, his attachment to Komugi was making him shift away from the purpose he was born for and while that is a plus in our eyes it was a red alarm for Pouf. He was in fact the most loyal ant to the king, not to Meruem who was slowly discovering his other side, he did everything he could to protect the king from his "unnatural" change, he was ready to die just for this sole purpose. Ironically enough he was the most human looking and the most intelligent/instinct reliant royal guard yet he was the most ant-like one. I found his death really sad, there was this streak of blood that shows us that he collapsed and continued crawling until he finally died. His last moments were filled with despair and disappointment, he realized that everything he has done or would do will never lessen the respect the king has for Komugi. He was the only royal guard who never got to grow or change, he never discovered his human side, he lived to furfill his duty and died failing to do so. I really feel bad for Pouf.

I will say that Pouf’s true nature was perfectly being depicted throughout that entire palace invasion arc. To me, his swarm of flies and his true face that he showed Knuckle weren’t just as bad as ants or insects. Far worse. He was behaving like locusts

Undrated opinion I really like pouf he brought alot of interest to the ants because I feel the others didn't have much character like they were cool but they really just stuck with the basic personality but pouf was always kinda crazy, dramatic af, fancy, and very much a "pretty boy"

Pitou is probably the only one of the royal guards that truly was devoted to Meruem as an individual ( I feel like Youpi's devotion was more like a warrior to his king, while Pouf was devoted to his own idea of the king )

He is a very well written character, and his death actually saddened me since I actually kind of loved him

I named my dog after him, because I loved him so much. Just like the character, he sadly passed away very early on due to health problems. I have even more love for the character now, because of my baby.

Possibly the worst character in HxH, having these traits doesn’t make him a good character.. you’re ignorant to the fact that a well written character is one who is developed, pouf is not. Most characters have these traits you listed.. that solely does not make a well written character. A character who never learns from his mistakes is a predictable character, his entire character arc revolves around trying to kill a child to continually fail becoming tiresome and pointless contributing nothing of significance. It’s evident his character disposition is filled with projected complacency, making the same mistakes continuously to never learn and develop. It’s becomes routine and expected which lowers the quality of the character because a predictable character is a poor character. Let’s not forget about his time slotted teenage girl breakdowns ultimately destroying any consistency or notability to his character. An evidently dull and pathetic character.
