This is how I pour copper bars using a Devil Forge furnace and 8kg crucible. Longarm made all these bars, so watch for new videos coming up on his channel.

You opened the valve before lighting it, you should turn gas on first then light it and then you should open the chamber/valve.

They were 200 oz molds and made bars around 5-6 pounds.

How efficient is this? Is the amount gained going from cu wire to bar sufficient to offset the price of the equipment and fuel to power it?

Too a lot of us, it's mostly a hobby. Albeit, it's a hobby that envolves, a lot of fire, molten metal, and for me it has a strange side effect of now I look at most metallic things a bit differently. (Wonder what kind of metal that's made from, & what it'd take to melt that down?!?!)

Do you ever have trouble with them getting steam pits on the bottoms? I have been getting a lot of that lately.

I have 1/2 ton of copper but no way of melting it. Do you know how much someone might charge to make bars out of it?
@Sb-ty7xo Жыл бұрын
Aren't the steam pits caused by not heating the molds enough?

That copper wire which is graded bright and shiny where I'm from is worth more then your bars to a scrap yard.
@azwelke26383 жыл бұрын
Dont sell to scrap yards, you can get more elsewhere Alot more
@TheFlyEXTERMINATOR2 жыл бұрын
@@azwelke2638 depends on were it is located but i agree, in most cases scrap yards want more profit

Can you melt wire from motor windings
@longarm.3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but it's dirty so I usually add borax to the melt.
