I feel like truckers aren't great at explaining the shifting very well. His left stick has 6 positions. Think of it like a car transmission where upper left is reverse, lower left is a low gear used for starting with heavy loads. The other 4 positions are the main forward gears 1-4. Upper middle slot is 1, lower middle is 2, upper right is 3 and lower right is 4. His stick on the left gives you those gears when it is forward. When he moves the right stick to the middle position you get the next 4 gears. Upper left and lower left are still reverse and low so ignore the left side again. Where 1-4 was in low now you have 5-8. Now he can pull the right stick back and split any of those gears and get a half shift gear between them including reverse and low. So, not counting reverse you have two lows on the lower left position and then 1L, 1H, 2L, 2H and so on which is 18 forward gears

Proud of you young man. And i really did enjoy the video. That was a great little documentary of how you started off at the bottom and how you slowly worked your way up to where you are today. I'm a (RET) O/O from the Ol School of trucking when the trucking industry was great. No Cdl's and all of this going to trucking schools. I also grew up around trucks & Heavy equipment and started Trucking riding with my father when schools were out for the summer. I live in VA and i was well known as the '' Bonecrusher '' class of 82. Stay safe & blessed. Like i had said before '' I'm truly PROUD of you,

Young Man, That's a mighty sweet truck you're driving. The lighting scheme...inside and out...is great. But doesn't that one interior light get distracting? (The one that's overhead, slightly in front and to the left of you). I should think that constantly seeing that light in one's peripheral vision would be enough to make a preacher cuss.

Whats up Ralphy 🤛🏾 dope content as usual brother so if I'm observing correctly you get up to about 16 1700 rpm then shift? Then keep it at 1500? I'm just curious I've changed my shifting technique since watching you and I see a difference but im running a Cummins not as much power as you also a car hauler as well
@Ralphybilt8 ай бұрын
That cat engine is a little lazier on the throttle once you let off between shifts so I’ve noticed it’s a lot easier to go from gear to gear when I was running an isx15 it seems to die down quick between shifts just had to be a little quicker between the gears but I always shift between 16-17
@ericowen76158 ай бұрын
Preciate it bro yea I notice a difference after watching your last video with your brother when you said he kept letting the truck bog out I think I was doing the same shit but I've heard that the cats you kind of have to drive them like you're mad at them

Couple things. Can't believe you split the bottom side of the transmission. Secondly that's a shit load of shifting for no reason. And third idk bout that dash. Having to reach over to flip toggles would get annoying. I get it. To each their own. But it sure seems like a lot of extra shit for a little bit of nothing. Most 18 speed transmissions you hardly ever if at all shift the bottom side of that transmission
@Ralphybilt8 ай бұрын
Seems like you clearly didn’t listen to me talking I said I rarely split my low side unless I’m dead stop on a grade I just did it in the video cause people asked me how the spare time fab conversion works and the dash isn’t a hard to handle
@yeezus91423 ай бұрын
Man I’d do anything to drive a truck like that. I drive a 389 stinger as well and I literally take money out of my paycheck some times just to make it a little nicer cause the owner does not care about it one bit 🫠
