You have the gift of being able to think and "render" in 3D. Keeping it all straight is a trick for some of the rest of the class!Got to stay in the Zen moments to lay all that out. Man I appreciate what you can make happen and lay down on a surface, specially one that is CURVED and not flat.

If you don't like to answer questions regarding the vid I completely understand. But if you don't mind......Did the colors you used for this come in the bottle this way (besides reduction) or did you mix to get the colors shown? And regarding the stars, how do you get them to look wavy like the flag itself instead of perfectly shaped that would not match the wave of the flag? and do you use stencils for the stars? And last but not least, when you went to shade the line (main flag fold where stripes end) did you tape right on the line exactly? or a little off to shade the fold all the way into the offset stripes? Thanks again!! you do great work.

I sometimes mix colors to get the exact hue I want, but in this case (and is the case with most transparents) the more you put down, the more dense/darker the color becomes. So I just used the red and the blue (reduced) straight out of the bottle. I drew the stars twice on the transfer tape before I cut out the mask. The hard edge on the fold should be as close to "on the line" as humanly possible. Did I answer everything? If you have any other questions, just ask...

Awesome!! Looks great!! I guess the paint/over spray does not go through the transfer tape eh...
@coasmechteranic10 жыл бұрын
Think of transfer tape like masking tape, but a little thinner, and any width you like...

Jack, love your work. You are an awesome artist. I have one question and that is how much reducer do you use when thinning your paint?
@coasmechteranic9 жыл бұрын
sorry it took so long to reply...I use "just enough" reducer... I try to thin the paint to the consistency of "skin milk"
@AlCatrraz7 жыл бұрын
skimmed milk?

Al Catraz "skim milk." (Oops)

Where does the white highlighting go relative to the dark shadowing? I got a little lost at that part.
@coasmechteranic8 жыл бұрын
+Azadum look at the way the lines of the flag flow. They flow kinda up and down. So, pick one direction, In this video I chose down. Then I shaded to the right of all (most) of the down sections. The highlights, go to the left of the down sections. Study pics of real fabric (flags) and note how different materials handle light. Example, silk has a tight highlight, while felt or cotton would appear more loose (fuzzy) in the highlights. Hope this helps.

+Jack Bias I think I understand. I'll try it out.

hi i have been asked to do a cornish flag, its black with a white cross, any tips on how to shade and highlight that as its already going to be black and white?
@veronicadeevers32465 жыл бұрын
What air pressure are you using? Same for all effects?
@coasmechteranic5 жыл бұрын
Veronica Deevers I use just enough pressure to atomize the paint. Too much and I get too dry. Too little and I don’t get the fine detail.

I just want to know who owns that awesome rifle? Surely the front half is as neat as the back half.

the rest turned out just as cool as the flag. check out the whole playlist here :kzfaq.info/sun/PLlOL83W9CfNhYZpe6nUE3MmKF1Pxr_Mhi I followed spraying the stock from beginning to end. ...as for who owns it, lets just say he's happy and I don't think it's for sale!!!
