Sounds simple but it is painful. Involves virtual columns and other chaos. And even if you don't use Dataverse you will get an inside look at how I work through problems in flow.

You can query based on related table using the human value, by using the following syntax in the Filter Query box, including brackets: (cr662_TheToy/cr662_chewystoysid eq 'Penguin') I got the second field from 11:00 in your video. Just to explain the above, the first field is the Lookup column in the table you're querying. The column after the slash is the column name of the primary key field in the related table. In your case, the cr662_chewystoysid friendly name is 'Chewy's Toys' Hope this helps!

Thanks for posting this! It was the exact issue that I was trying to solve and was struggling to figure out. I really like how you showed your research/debugging process to figure out the "virtual" name of a lookup column. One note for others that watch this video: I can clearly see that putting the GUID within single quotes worked for you but for whatever reason, I had to remove the single quotes around the GUID to get this to work for me.

Hi Shane, thanks for all the videos! I believe it is possible to query based on columns on the related table. You can use the expand option to specify the columns on the related table, then include them in the filter query. Easiest way to get the correct syntax is to use the FetchXMLbuilder tool in the XRM Toolbox. If the scenario allows to use the guid though I would use it as my first choice.

Hi Shane, thank you very much for the video!! In my case I have X2 List rows where I'm trying to pulling data from my parent table (List rows 1) based on a column status, which works fine. But in my child table (List view 2 within a Foreach) where I'm trying to pull data based on my parent ID which is a lookup in my child, I get syntax error when I use _virtualtable_value eq dynamic content for the ID in my parent. What am I doing wrong?

Love your videos. Thanks for them! I have a simple flow... Retrieve inputs from a Microsoft Form and drop them onto a Sharepoint List. However, one of the form responses is 'priority', with choices (high, medium, low). On the MS List, I want 'Priority' to be a lookup column, so it can hit another list and bring back 10 for high, 5 for medium, 1 for low. I'm told I need 'Filter Query' to get that done. True? How?

Yes it should work. Do a get items from your table. Then look at the items. There you should see your column and exactly how the data is formatted. Have to recreate that.

Brother, I'm looking for Powerapps Import CSV or Excel using import control and that gets stored to a temp collection. the reason I ask is, with the new Form control, users will be able to add or edit only one item. instead, if there is an option for importing a file and that uploads as a gallery or data table, that helps users to add the item to the database instead of adding one by one. Requesting for assistance.

Look into using a flow would be my recommendation. You could use a flow that kicks off from the powerapp and does what you are asking using wither a temp excel file (probably garbage way to do it) or a temp SP list etc. Might be hard to do 100% within powerapps but I have never tried before so don't take my word on it. Good luck,a

Isn't this a valid Odata query with lookup field (owninguser is lookup)? The table that it is selecting from is Approval Response it is to reference if the current user in the current approval process has gave his approval and to remind the others.
