One of those common power bricks failed at work this week.
So clearly I had to grab it out of the scrap and drag it home to see what's going on inside.
Also in this episode: stickers!
And, of course, beer.

I love your videos. It may have taken you some time, but it's very relatable. I'm not afraid to admit that I've fallen down that rabbit hole of trouble shooting countless times only to find that the solution is something obvious and simple that I should have spotted way, way, sooner...

Awesome vid. Now adays, when I use one of those barrel ends, I like to shoot some hot glue down it before I screw it on to act a a sealer and strain relief. makes it permanent too :D

Some time ago I tried to repair some Logitech branded white case plug pack. I opened it and input fuse was blown. So I replaced it, put it back together and inserted into socket. It was first time I saw a fuse blowing up with such bright light shining through plastic package. One of bridge diodes was shorted. Remember: Fuses blow for a reason ;-)

My first clue was that you only had 63 volts at the output of the bridge rectifier.

The blue critter you mention as connected with 'golang' is strongly similar to the Bell Labs "Plan 9" OS mascot: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_9_from_Bell_Labs . In my limited awareness, Plan 9 is one of the strange, fringe OS's that only a certain flavor of geeks know about.

They do look similar, don't they. GoLang is also relatively obscure (I didn't recognise him, the only reason I knew is it was mentioned on the order page.)

When you had power on it I can hear the high pitch sound coming off the power supply.

I used to be able to hear that when my ears were younger.

@@pileofstuff It's only because I have Infinity studio monitors that I'm able to hear that, these speakers are very revealing.

good work, simple job, ut i no understand why stupid much be keep many metal tools on table what no need, screwrivet,knife,french,etc. no newer, keep table clean, if not need tools fight far out on table, and keep metal toold own plastic box on table what need only this job. lot better and safety work code.
