Power factor correction can only help in reduction of heat loss. Which is field of mechanical engineering. Because heat loss equals to I^2xR. Hence,for normal consumers adding capacitors is useless.

Sir this is basically POWER FACTOR correction. Simply the house hold load is inductive so it consume more current and more real power but if we provide it a capacitor bank then power factor is correct and it also provides reactive power which help to maintain power and reduce the bill.

But reducing reactive power didn't affect real power and wapda is charging you according to real power ...so power factor improvement at user side didn't beneficial power factor is already improved at grid stations ..

Btw most of the residential loads don't have much more inductive load so no need to improve power factor..but in industrial load larger inductive load like 3 phase induction motors absorbes most of the reactive power causing sudden voltage drop which will decrease your power factor...if you have poor power factor... NTDC will charge you extra money...using capacitor bank and over exiected synchrous motor can be used to improve power factor...because it will give reactive power...

The current differance on your meter with and without cap. is not reflected on wapda meter and hence no change in consumption. Theoriticaly it is ok

Capacitor is not much useful for domestic meters, except some minpr line current losses are reduced. However industrial meter run for both KW and KVA and so capacitors are connected there to reduce bills.

Dear you have done a good job and clear the power factor confusion i am also an electrical engineer people ask me about this magic to reduce the elecric bill i tell them that our energy meter records the power in terms of watt X hour/1000 unite But ofenly they do not understand you have demonstrate real aplication of Power fourmula ie P=VI Cos phy well done Hence capacitor is not the soloution

Yeah, this depends on appliance type and capacitor type. mostly installed with electrical machines. To calculate capacitance there are different formulas. In electronics we mostly use this formula to calculate capacitance. C = I sqr (2 x f x Vpp)

Not much ...but if large lighting load exist. ..then bank capacitor to improve PF. As( mu) of capacitor is more than 100% In india v get subsidy. Since motor is used for pumping water may be half an hour it does not make difference In india cost of house hold LT electricity is rs .14 (pak rs) per kvah or unit. Including taxes..

But it doesn't need normally capacitor is present with motors so we don't need to attach capacitor .. And 2nd thing wapda is charging you on the basis of real power by improving power factor your reactive power reduces but real power remain constant so it is applicable in industries where wapda charged on reactive power ...

Brother ap yaha par dikha rahe hai ke , Current kam hogya hai , magar apko wapda meter dikhana chahiye , chahe ap jitne capacitor laga le , wapda ka meter is tarah se design hua hai , woh same current consumption dikhayega . You should try this experiment if i am wrong, let me know .
