Many many years ago. When the consumer court had just started. I went to court against the Insurance Company as they did not settle my motor insurance claim (theft of Vespa scooter) I pleaded myself and would always carry 3 copies of points I would print (1 - Judge, 1 - myself, 1 - opponent) I won the case after argument was heard. Received Rs 10,000 (mental harassment) in excess of the amount I claimed and in addition to the interest due to the delay in settling the claim.

Didi saari baatein wahi khatam ho jaati hai jab uske paas paise nai the lawyer hire karne ki, fir bhi agar aage jaatein hai toh usko dozen hearing attend karni padi aur usko mila 9200 ka 6% means 552 rs and 10k mental harrasment and 2k for legal expenses. So total is 12552 right, agar wo apne 12 hearing, documents photocopy aur fare ko pluse karde aur plus uski daily earning as tea seller toh didi usko loss hua hai. Ek intersting baat batata hu jab icici and hdfc bank ne wrong kiya tab rbi executive ne khud call kiya aur bola waise aapka compensation 1 lakh banta hai for mental harrasment but 5k se jyaada nai de paayenge. So moral of the story ,agar aap aam adami ho toh aapko koi benefit nai hai

yes, I too had fought my case myself, it took 3 years but i won the case. bas wakil hota toh thoda jaldi nipat jata and better compensation mil sakta tha, but atleast i won on my own.

Now the same consumer court entertains a case that is 1 crore and above.

What a waste of time.. Same happened with my brother from bank of India i sent a mail to RBI after 2 month bank manager called my brother and asked to fill a insurance form as every Saving account has 5 lakh insurance. My brother got his money next day then he asked to give him in written that his problem is solved. The manager was saying "aap humse milte manage kiya jata yhi se.. Kaha aap complain krme chale gye.."

Poor people can also take legal services free under the legal service authority act 1987,,, only condition is that his/her annual salary should less than 1 lakh ,, and it is the responsibility of that state to provide his/her a advocate!!!!!
