The power pole micro has been reviewed by use before during its first year. Now in the 2.5 year, there has been many problems with it. The first one had a bad controller, then the motor died. It was replaced. Now the second one has gear/ring issues and we now have the third one.

Im just waiting for a competitor to hopefully come out before the Spring to bring the price down a little. Im surprised Minnkota hasnt made a smaller version of the Talon or anybody else. $599 without the pole is pretty pricey, but my 5 pound anchor drags too much in soft sand and my biggest pain of kayak fishing is simply staying in the same spot so im probably gonna buy one.

Thanks for the review. I was looking at getting a power pole but it cost $600 . Have you guys look into the Bernie river stick ? It's a manual pole . Same concept at the power pole

I'm about to send my second one back in less than a year. I wish they would make these where they work as intended EVERY TIME. Mine froze up yesterday while I was trying to do a video in high wind. Very disappointing.

I have a question about the Micro anchors. Really enjoyed your video showing the inside components of the anchor. Between my brother and I, we have had to warranty about 6 of these micro anchors with similar issues. Most of the problems was with water entering into the unit and causing electrical problems. I have mine on a 17ft boat and I think when I go in reverse, the engine forces water up into the black plastic cover, which has the lip on the back side. I realized this looked like the issue and wondered why they didn't make it sealed there. It was hard to tell in your video and I cant find any old pics online of how the old design was. But was there a rubber gasket at all under the top cover to protect the circuit board? Not sure if you have seen but they just came out with a NEW TOP DESIGN which I was told a few weeks ago that this should fix the problems. They have some photos on their website showing the new design and construction parts listed! It also says that it is now rated IP 68 Environmental Resistance (1-2 meter saltwater submersion). I just received my new micro anchor in last week and I am hoping this one will last me a long time now. I love the anchor when it does work lol Thanks!

Of its locked up. There is likely a electrical board issue. Call customer service. Power pole are the best in the industry.

About to add a micro to my kayak, thanks for all the info! Do you have any experience with the power pole micro battery? I'd like to go that route rather than adding a second battery to my kayak (already have one for the lowrance) but I've seen really mixed reviews online about them.

i love how simple it is to pop the battery on like a cordless drill but i have had trouble with it working consistantly. it worked perfectly for the first month or so but after that it would lose connection or something and not work at all. unfortunately there is nothing you can do about that when you're on the water so it's beach it, pull the battery off, put it back on ,give it a smack to make sure it's seated properly and hope it works. not very convenient on tournament day. i am actually looking at running a cable through the hull of my bonafide ss127 and powering it from the same battery i power my lowrance with. it's very frustrating for the price of the power pole battery. to be fair, i'm not entirely sure it's the battery or the power pole itself that's the problem. i intend to contact power pole and get their opinion on what might be the trouble. maybe they'll just replace it
@micheler1615

Davis Knowlton I had the same problem,power pole did replace the unit and battery. But the replacement one after using it 4 times crapped out again. It seemed like a battery problem but when I tested the unit to a 12 volt battery it still didn’t work. They are replacing this one also, so I’m waiting for that to come in. So far it’s frustrating to have 2 units fail but the customer support is great. They also told me the first unit had water damage, well it has never been submerged and it’s weird that something made for the water cannot get wet! 😞

I fish saltwater 4-5 days a week I have had 6 micro power poles my problem is always the plug and where it goes into the unit corrodes and I have tried packing it with dielectric grease nothing works with the saltwater. I am buying Another new unit this week because I cant stand not being able to drop anchor from the bow while I’m fly fishing tailing reds. I will say their warranty is awesome I have had them send me 3 new units in one year no questions asked overnighted next day to my house

The first thing you have to accept with an automated anchor pole is that what you are asking this device to do a rather difficult task. Lots of forces to deal. The environment is also very adverse. And if the thing does not work perfect every single time you hit that button, then its a piece of crap. Its funny how other gear like fishing rods, manual anchor poles, nets, and so forth, are considered consumable items, but somehow that does not apply to this product. Well, it does. Automated anchor poles are also consumable items with a limited lifetime and amount of use after which the product is spent. With Power Pole specifically, I would not consider buying one of their anchor products as an exchange of monies for goods. Rather, you are hiring them to provide you a service for two years. If practically anything goes wrong they will overnight you the parts to make it right with virtually no questions asked. Rest assured, this thing will break. They all break. Talon, Blade, Pro Series, Micro, whatever. All of them break with normal usage. They also break with no usage. There is no way to keep them from breaking. Replacement parts are ridiculously expensive. I think the PP hydraulic units alone are like $850, and they only last about 2 years. Your warranty replacement will be a refurb, so that one will last one year. It is what it is. If you want the convenience of an automated anchor pole, then you must pay for that convenience as an ongoing service fee. Otherwise, don't get one at all. This product will not last anywhere near the lifetime of the boat. Keep that in mind when you make your decision to drill into a transom or deck.

Yes i understand normal wear and tear. But where is the service manual????
@KungPowEnterFist
@KungPowEnterFist 4 жыл бұрын
@@OutofWORKoutdoors This is not about wear and tear. Actually, I suspect you are a light duty user. There are people that operate their units several hundreds of cycles a week as pro guides and whatnot. They last about the same for them as they do for the 10-20 cycles a month user. The lifespan of the units are more based on time than cycles. Time from the first water that gets into the connector. Time from the first hydraulic oil in the reservoir. And so forth. These things just dont last, hard use or not. That is why I am saying its all about the warranty period and excellent, fast service from Power pole. That is what you are actually buying. The Micro has a warranty of 2 years, and that is what you should expect out of it - 2 years before you have to shell out more money to keep using this item. The other PP units also have 2 years warranty, but its the same deal. The main thing that breaks is the pump unit, so that is usually what you get replaced for you. They were $850 (for a refurbished pump unit), might be higher now. If you are lucky, you might get one to last 3 years. Most pump units, its 1-2 years. My advice...install it somewhere easy to replace and dont get attached to it.
