My problem with power scaling is that there fundamentally is no concrete and reliable way to even do it. All power scaling has to rely on fundamental assumptions and mutually agreed upon rules to get anywhere because unlike real people, fictional characters are abstract and cannot be impartially observed.

People say dodging lasers is light speed because the word "laser" is an acronym that stands for: *"Light* amplification by stimulated emission of radiation".

Lightning itself Isn't light speed, the flash that it creates is. Lightning isn't a beam of light, It's an arc of super heated plasma. The actual bolt only travels at 270,000 miles per hour which is 0.0004% the speed of light. A character being able to move and react to a lightning bolt doesn't make them light speed. End of discussion.

You can see a character dodging a bullet in a painel but having to lose to a gun in another for plot. You're not supposed ot think abt it, you supposed to *watch the show to have fun.* Even if you want to force physics into fiction, it doesn't make sense because the author could just say "physics in this world works differently" any day of the week and just like that, your entire powerscalling basis is down the toilet.

Trust me, we also think that those Dragon Ball power level videos are dumb. Also, I have never seen someone say that lightning dodging is light speed lol. Though I don’t doubt it, I have heard worse. Most people who don’t take power scaling seriously, just enjoying it as a hobby, acknowledge that any stats given are from amateur physics calculations. But of course, the people who insist on this stuff do tend to be loud and make themselves look like idiots. Trust me, it’s a vocal minority of people who act this way you’re describing. The same “but can he beat Goku” crowd. We’re just as annoyed as you are with people like that.

I also hate when people assume that if a chatacter can dodge something, theyre automatically as fast as the thing theyre dodging. Its so stupid 😭. I can dodge a baseball, but that doesnt mean i can run at 75 mph 💀. The only way that would make sense is if the character is dodging at like, point blank. (Which is rarely the case)

The problem it's not power scaling itself (heck, the rule of thumb is that context is key for it to make sure the scaling is consistent and logical)...the problem its that people DON'T KNOW how to power scale.... that's why people think Goku is outherversal, Saitama is hyperversal, and gojo Multiversal. You wanna believe me or not. a week I was thinking about this topic alot. And was thinking about making video about it. Honestly what you are saying is exactly what I was thinking. If I can dodge a ball coming at me with the speed of 60 mile/hr.. doesn't mean I can actually run with the same speed. Theres are always levels to things, you should have title the video “The majority of power scalers are dumb.” When you speak to one who actually knows what they’re talking about none of what you said in this video applies. Some lasers are light speed, if you meet someone who says all lasers are light speed and doesn’t give reason that should just make you say “this guy is dumb.” Not “all powerscalers are dumb.” That in and of itself is stupid, generalizations tend to make an ass out of people, avoid that in the future.

My least favorite thing in power scaling is the sheer brain rot that is dimensional tiering. MFs out here thinking they're mathematicians when they can't even comprehend what dimensions even are. I think yes, sometimes it does get stupid. You can have a character destroy a mountain, but some way or another the fandom will scale that to something as planet level. But it's not always dumb, it's fun sometimes, u can enjoy and have a time pass.

Spider-Man in canon moves so fast that he causes after images behind him. This is stated several times throughout the history of amazing Spider-Man. The only picture there you can argue is the Kingpin. The others very clearly show his VERY COMMONLY known after image technique. Calling me brain dead because you can’t read is WILD.

The real problem are the people trying to scale different "verses". It can be fun to speculate within a show, if Piccolo should sweep the Buu arc tournament if everyone stays in base form as agreed upon, for an example. Even that gets stupid at some point though because like, Dragonball power levels are bullshit and there's a reason most modern anime don't even like, try to implement something along those lines. And like honestly, I wouldn't get too mad about these kids not understanding how physics work, it's not like the mangakas do either.

Nothing wrong with power scaling and the characters being fictional doesn't make it less fun, like… you know a lot of loved series are fictional, right? The laser dodge and the multiple Spider-Men are fine to conclude as a FTL feat or actual after images if there's nothing against it.
