This repair is overdue, I’ve been topping off the fluid for longer than I’m willing to admit! The parts are inexpensive, so let’s replace the power steering hoses on this 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ.
I remove the air cleaner box to give me better access to the bottom of the power steering lines. I chose not to remove the bottom radiator hose which I had to patiently work around, but it’s doable. Stubby wrenches might help but I don't have them (added to the wish list!). I replace both hoses even though only the high pressure line was leaking. These parts are very inexpensive so there is no better time than now to replace both!
Make sure the o-rings from the old hoses come out and that when you install the new hose ends (the threaded ones) that the supplied new o-rings are in place.
