I want to like hammer, but the CC skills in unleashed pet are a problem. You give up a lot of damage to use them, but with fury, might, quickness, and vulnerability generated via CC I can't afford not to. It's also a problem if you don't take Let Loose as Enhancing Impact generates stability rather than quickness when in unleashed pet, which is a bit frustrating as you already have stability on ambush with hammer. It just doesn't work for me. This is why I prefer sword/axe with maces. You get a lot more CC and using it only increases your damage.

@@bennemans92 In group content where you have support, I believe hammer is the best DPS weapon available to Untamed. However, in solo play the best DPS option is to source quickness from Enhancing Impact and take Ferocious Symbiosis instead of Let Loose. The problem is that 3s of quickness on CC as your only source means you need to consistently produce CC effects. This is where maces shine as with Force of Nature you can produce 4 CC effects. I also take 2 CC utilities and sword/axe brings 2 more. To make things a bit easier (and because I'm cheap!) I also use precision food, which overcaps my crit, then use a few pieces of Diviner's gear to shave off the extra precision in exchange for about 21% boon duration. The other piece of the puzzle is Relic of the Midnight King, which grants 3x might and fury (which also grants opening strike and 5x vulnerability) on CC. So not only are we ideally generating 100% quickness uptime, but we also maintain near 25 stacks of might and 25x vulnerability. The CC on maces are critical component in that.

@@HardcoreCasualGW2 Wow thats smart. I am not that good in theory crafting and stuff. I mostly follow some builds. I am for example running the build that Mukluk showed recently on his channel. (although with hammer instead of maces cause I am not that far into the game, just finished PoF) But going from a Soulbeast to this.. Damn :p I love the raptor dismount into hammer spin2win. All the quickness, although I am not fully aware from were all these buffs come. I'll need to look into that build more to understand I guess. :D But cool build you got there!!

@@bennemans92 Mukluk's not wrong. One advantage of Let Loose is that engaging with your raptor counts as a weapon swap and will give you an instant ambush plus quickness and might. Without Let Loose you'd have to start in unleash pet and swap to unleash ranger to proc the ambush. You also wouldn't gain quickness from the ambush attack on hammer. My setup takes a bit more work on the opener, but should produce better damage overall, especially in longer engagements where you have time to stack Ferocious Symbiosis for the full +25% damage.
