One of my first videos I watched,as i rapidly took interest in the sport of PPC flying. Awesome video ! 1 year ago, I took up drone photography. This past spring I met a guy that owned a ppc, and I knew right away, I had to look further into it. luck had it, I was able to take a ride in a 2 seat ppc from a local man in my neighboring area. 3 weeks later I owned a Buckeye dream machine, red barron red/2 seat/582 rotax. Life was on a fast track. i took a few field lessons, and help from 2 local men that have become true friends, You can say they took me under their wing, patiently worked with me with good instruction, and I have now been solo several times and absolutely love it. Started out as a drone hobby 1 year ago, and now flying like a bird. Nothing compares. Hope you have safe flights,keep the videos coming, Thank you,Jim

@Randall D No, you don't need a license to fly a powered parachute or a registration for the aircraft AS LONG AS the powered parachute meets the guidelines of an Ultralight Vehicle. If you don't know what the definition of an Ultralight Vehicle is, refer to 14 CFR § 103.1(e). For powered parachutes that don't meet the definition of Ultralight, at least a Sport Pilot certificate with a powered parachute rating is needed.

If you go single seat like a trike it's about half the cost as a tandem Rotax powered setup. Those can go up to 30k. Decent trike setup single seater 12 to 14k gets a nice setup. Foot launch with just a backpack seat and no wheels and that's under 10k all day long.

In’95, I had a near-fatal skydiving accident. During the healing process, I met Ken Benner in Billings, MT. He introduced me to this wonderful sport, and I was soon flying my own Six Chuter SR-1. Ken soon bought a 582 Dream Machine. It was awesome. I always loved the freedom of my single-seat. Being a former jumper, I loved the ability to hot dog it a bit. Anyway ken, myself, and many others enjoyed the flyins and numerous activities over the years. I got out in ‘04 when FAA started cracking down on us, and I was driving truck and didn’t have much time to play. I miss it horribly. Anyone see Kenny out there, have him hit me up - it’s been a long time, bro. Johnny would like know what you’re up to, and if you still got your wings on!

Now that I finally have found access to a private airfield, I can seriously think of getting one after 30 years thinking of it. What is required to getting a 2 seater? I read special certification is required. What is involved? Can I get a PPC and NOT be trained to fly?
@fredgrant1061
@fredgrant1061 Жыл бұрын
A two seat powered parachute requires at least a sport pilot license and is an FAA registered aircraft. The simplest way to fly is to buy a single seat machine that complies to FAR part 103. That means empty weight of not more than 255 lbs. and not more than 5 gallons of fuel. No license required. Go get dual instructions somewhere to be safe and enjoy your flying.

They are very fun, but stay out to late on a morning flight, & the building thermals & turbulence can become quite unnerving in a hurry, making you feel like your on the end of a Bungie.
@fredgrant1061

The ideal flight conditions are from calm to 10 mph wind. Less is better. Winds most places in the Midwest begin to come up around 10am. Evenings as the sun goes down are ideal.

I don't know if you monitor this posting but I have just bought beautiful 09 buckeye eagle single seat. I am not trained to fly, I have looked for it but no one around me with in forever does this, I am tempted to take what I have learned and go practice kiting, and setting up the chute bringing it up properly than bringing it back down, then just kite up one time and leave this planet. I have been warned profusely about trying to do this by the trainer I bought this from. He lives 10 hrs away so I can,t train with him. What do you think of all this training just to have fun?

***** Can't means won't.Only a complete fool flies without proper instruction....but don't let me discourage you. I've watched others fly without instruction, and am a pilot myself. If you do go the self teaching route, I suggest you tell experienced pilots in your area so they can sit in lawnchairs and watch / film you pile it up...and you probably will. Makes for great KZfaq videos.

***** David, where are you? I have flown one for 14 years. You can thank the GD FAA for your trouble. We were 12k strong when they grabbed us up and asked congress for more money. Their rules are a lie though, and I fly my 2 place just as I did when 'exempted' (I have studied law for 7 years and have no fear of the leaches). YOU DO NOT WANT TO FLY WITHOUT INSTRUCTION!! Though they are the easiest thing to fly, there are things you gotta know. I soloed in 1.5 hrs. But my instructor was awesome. I had an engine out within one year, 230lb guy in the back, and thanks to training, it was no big deal. My 'N-number' is 'not for commerce' . Answer me, and I may find you a rebel who can help. Watch the video. Your servants in government made this harder, less likely, less safe and more expensive. Your GD SERVANTS!

Kaylejwm Good, glad you're safe and flying :). I will tell you this, from experience. Fly as if it will quit and any time, so you have a glide slope to a safe landing. If it does quit, flare hard with feet, AND grab the lines with your hands and cross them in front of your chest right before hitting the ground. I had no damage fully loaded (2 place).
