Back in the mid-90’s when I was at UT-Austin, I took a strength training class with Terry’s wife Jan. Through her I met Terry. I didn’t know them well but I could see the passion they had for the sport and the true warmth and caring they had for those who passed through their gym. I wish I’d paid more attention and lifted harder back then. RIP Terry.

A true renaissance man. His career as a strength authority overshadowed the fact that he was the first world superheavyweight powerlifting champion, setting records in the deadlift and total. Said to have greater hand strength than his friend and contemporary Paul Anderson, there are mindblowing photos of him doing bent rows with a 500 pound barbell. Oh, and he went to the University of Texas on a TENNIS scholarship.

Nick I met him on a few occasions and always a class act. The museum is truly awesome and spent a lot of time with him there and the kids I coached enjoyed the experience. He was also the first ever world superheavy powerlifting champion.

Now there's a name I haven't heard in years, Terry Todd. I wasn't even aware of their museum and now I wanna go check it out. Seems like a very interesting, cool place. Rest in peace Terry Todd. ...............................PEACE!!

I first heard of Terry Todd back in 1995 when I started watching The World's Strongest Man competitions. He featured in several early ones and they were playing reruns of them.

I was lucky enough one Wednesday evening to share hamburgers and onion rings at Hut's in Austin, Texas with Dr. Todd. A true gentle giant and, without a doubt, the world's greatest storyteller.

Very nice tribute. Just watched episode one of Legends of Strength on Netflix, which featured commentary from Terry and Jan Todd. I did not know that he had passed.

Dr Terry Todd was a great Olympic and Powerlifter in his own right!We have lost a huge contributor to the Iron Game!He and his wife Jan were huge advocates for women’s Powerlifting also.Competitor,Author,Professor,Innovator a true Renaissance man RIP Dr Terry.

oldtime lifter Charles Rigoulot has a great story, would make a great video. olympic weightlifting gold medalist, escaped a Nazi prison camp, 1st person to clean & jerk 400lbs. Did a bunch of stuff, actor, race car driver, etc..
