In the Philippines, the prevalent use of mercury in ASGM gold recovery processes stems from a lack of awareness about its harmful effects and the absence of affordable and alternative methods. Excessive exposure to mercury not only results in serious health problems but also leads to irreversible environmental degradation.

"Power Of Gold: Stories from the Ground" is a documentary film series produced by Artisanal Gold Council Philippines through the planetGOLD Philippines project, shot in the two project sites - Paracale, Camarines Norte and Sagada, Mt. Province. Each episode will center on various thematic issues around the sector, and will show the positive impacts of the Project's initiatives in the country.
