Great analysis! I worked all yesterday so this was extremely beneficial. Instructive game from Nodirbek who is looking more and more like the complete player. Also worth pointing out that this win put Nodirbek past 2715 on the live rating list - Kasimdzhanov's peak rating - meaning Nodirbek's on course to become the highest rated Uzbek player of all time

What I felt was strange that Rapport used more time in the opening stages, even tough I would feel such an opening has to be home perp. A nice game, I kinda feel Leko would shake his head at Rapports play and feel vindicated that sensible chess prevailed in the end. Personally I liked Rapports play. No need to rush, uploading late because you are enjoying your weekend is a great move :-)

Apparently, this specific line has been (re)popularized over the recent years by the big KZfaq chess content creator GothamChess. No doubt he might have been inspired by Georg (though from what I recall, it was also a line that he specialized in himself). It's really fascinating to know how far back in time this theory goes - this kind of perspective is something pretty unique to your channel and your coverage of these games! I always like watching because of that.

Very interesting and nice to see a classical opening. Yes, white's king was offside towards the end, rather like Marcus Rashford.

Thanks Daniel. Tense game. The Vienna has some very nasty lines was very popular in the lower levels (major etc) of the UK Chess leagues, in the early noughties Michael Kobylka (RIP) of Wood Green played this regularly to dispose of unsuspecting opponents.

I love Richard's bravery, his "oddness", but this was a bit much. Great game by Nodirbek, really punished him for playing something that looked questionable. It's going to be a fun tournament to follow.

Saturday night and sunday morning, hehe. Disappointed that Rapport couldn't hold onto the draw. Alas, time might be the best healer, but also the worst enemy, especially if you're a chess player.

@@alvinrodney6229 When I hear 'Noddy' I think of Noddy Holder, lead singer in Slade, but I'm guessing you haven't heard of him! They never cracked the US. In the UK they were massive in the early 70s. Great group.
