I think what he is trying to say is that performance boots generally fit tighter than fitness and recreational boots, but he makes it sound like "skaters with narrow feet should buy performance boots, wide feet do recreational boots", which is not correct . The selection of skate boots should based on skaters' skill level and intended skate style. Beginners, no matter how narrow or wide their feet are, are better off starting with recreational/fitness boots with small wheels and high cuff. While advance skaters with wide feet can still skate comfortably in tight performance boots with proper heatmolding. What would be most ideal is to offer skates in multiple widths, like "D" and "EE" in hockey skates, but unfortunately no inline skate brand does that.

Is there a carbon boot, high cuff, 3x110 coming up (Tau, Kaze)? I'm tempted by the Arise RD, but scared by the low cuff and racing heritage, not sure if I'm ready for that. I'm not targeting marathons, just having fun cruising through the city.
