I like electric pole saws. I have to admit it never occurred to me to use a portable generator to go beyond the length of an extension cord from my house.

3/8LP chain is what pole pruners use. Very good to know it has a quality bar and chain, and a metal gear to drive the chain.

Jeffrey Beyer Yeah I was surprised to see a 3/8 chain. That's bigger than what my chainsaws run. It seems very well made in my opinion.

Love2boat92 Remember, 3/8LP chain is nowhere near as strong as .325 chain. How good of quality does the plastic seem to be? If only PowerSmart has a battery powered pruner. Do you have the 800watt continuous run version of that generator? Good to know it can power that pruner, perfect for yard work and not need 200ft of extension cord.

Jeffrey Beyer Yeah I know 3/8 LP isn't as strong as .325. I was surprised to see the 3/8 chain on a pole saw. The plastic is well made. I don't expect anything to break on it. I think my little generator is the 800 watt continuous one with 900 surge watts. If I was trimming trees I wouldn't want to be plugged into a wall outlet. Having this little generator is really nice.

Love2boat92 Those name brand higher end gas pruners are big $. Both the generator and this oruner combined is less than half of the big brand gasoline pruners. Not a bad value.

Jeffrey Beyer thank you for all the great input to this channel. I'm going to have to disagree with you on 0.325" pitch chain being stronger than the 3/8" pitch chain. It's not the pitch that determines the strength of the chain, it's the gauge. The smaller 0.325" pitch chain just means it can go around sharper corners on the bar tip.and tends to plunge better than 3/8" pitch chain. The gauge is the thickness of the drive link metal and thicker metal is stronger.

They found you too, eh? Great review. Looks like another quality PowerSmart tool. I can actually use one of those. For those pesky 3 or 4 branches, then it'll sit in the garage until who knows when.

jaykay18 Yes they did find me too. Real good company to work with. Thank you!! It was tough filming this video and uploading to youtube. I knocked over the tripod with my phone on top twice. Lol. The generator didn't want to to start. Some of the clips weren't in order when I first filmed. Then, somehow I deleted the first entire video edit and had to re-edit the entire video again. Lol. I sort of need a dedicated camera for KZfaq. We always need some trees trimmed. I didn't have to go far to find a few that needed trimmed. Lol. I will get a lot of use out of this pole saw as time goes on.

Yeah some videos are just doomed from the start. I know the feeling. I had one of those moments this morning, and it's a good thing the camera WASN'T on. Fortunately I got it all sorted out so a video will be easy now.

jaykay18 It's really frustrating. I've never had a video with so many problems. The problems were all me too. LOL. Sometimes it's best to just stop for the day and do the video another day.

I've done that too, and scrapped all the previous footage. Very frustrating. Nobody told us this when we started making videos. There ought to be a book on it.

Can't find out how to shorten the pole for storage. After loosening the adjustment knobs, the smaller tubes seem to be still locket and won't slide into the larger diameter ones. What am I missing?

How's the TIMBERPRO holding up? I ordered one off amazon and its supposed to be here in a few days. I had a husky 435 last year but I was stupid and sold it lol. What kind of power does it have and what ratio do you run in it?
@Lanninglongarmmowing
@Lanninglongarmmowing 7 жыл бұрын
Ryley Bodger The timberpro is doing pretty good. Thanks for asking. You'll like the timberpro. Just know it's not a trouble free saw. I had to replace the switch and the gas tank vent within 17ish hours of running. The gas tank vent I had to replace within the first few hours of running. The timberpro has a lot of power compared to what I'm used to running. The box and manual say to run 25 to 1 in it. After it breaks in which is a little over 10 hours I switched to about 40 to 1 so it's not so smokey when I use it. It's still worth it considering how much it costs.

What size were the branches thst you were cutting off and tree type?
@Lanninglongarmmowing

Jeffrey Beyer Probably around 2, 3, and maybe 4 inches thick. All of the branches were maple including the 9 inch one.

Love2boat92 Plenty of power then for normal pruning jobs. Had a Remington extendsble pruner that used a small electric chainsaw that was removable on the end. That was a lot of weight on the end of the pruner, but it sure was easy to cut with and a pain to lug around. I'd still use bar-chain oil, and winter blends are available from the right location to help in cold temps.

Herb Little jr. About $85-90 on Amazon. After seeing a pole saw with the angled head in action, am getting one myself. That angled cutting head will definitely help keep you out of the way of the branches you cut.

Jeffrey Beyer Definately want to get one with an angled head. It keeps you out of the shower of saw dust and keeps you out of the line of fire when the limb falls like you said.

Love2boat92 The prices change so fast on Amazon. But once in a while they have a lightning sale on items you have in your wish list. One item on my wish list is regular $550 or so, in lightning sale for $450.
