The Navi Mumbai Metro is a rapid transit system under construction in the Indian city of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The planning and construction of the Navi Mumbai Metro is being overseen by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). The system is planned to consist of five rail lines covering a total distance of 106.4 kilometres The foundation stone for the project was laid on 1 May following construction delays, the metro's first line was projected to open in 2020. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which caused lockdowns, curfews, and lack of labour, which resulted in several delays in construction, the deadline is pushed to 2022 for completion of the first line (Line 1) of Navi Mumbai Metro.
Navi Mumbai metro project is a complex and challenging project that requires coordination between multiple agencies and stakeholders. Addressing these issues will be critical to ensuring timely completion of the project.

Sadly to say I was the 1st Civil Engineer hired for this project in 2011 from the GC side. Corruption and corruption is the only reason for the delay of this project. This was one of the most simple and easiest metro project for construction as the area was almost open for construction as compared to Mumbai.

@@pranavtripathi791 it doesn't really. There's barely one harbour line without any fast train services and NM connects with Mumbai at just Vashi bridge. Good things are that Airport and Sewri sealink are coming up. Also this metro 1 plus metro 12 and an expected metro 8 will make more difference. For most people travelling to Navi Mumbai can be nightmare with lack of options.

There are lot of projects in Kharghar which are delayed significantly. Like - Kharghar taloja bridge - kharghar turbhe link road - BKC-2 - Children park in sector 18 etc to name a few. Only the property rates kept on increasing here during these projects announcement. People have been fooled by CIDCO and developers together. There are only two roads to get out of kharghar node and there is lot of traffic near monkey point signal. Still there is no planning for new gateway to-from Kharghar and new constructions are going on in massive pace. Infrastructure will be one of the worst in Kharghar in coming years.

Kharghar to panvel was in controversial decision between panvel mahanagar palika and cidco which was passed recently and decided that it will be the part of panvel mahanagar palika.

I think even after inauguration Navi-Mumbai metro will be loss making and failed metro, as it doesn't travel through high dense area. Many people living around those areas already have their personal vehicle and calculating fare as well as frequency, won't think this metro will much succeed

Public transport is never meant for profit making. I think the local govt should instead encourage more people to take metro, and develop that area more. Plus even if people have private vehicle, most don't want to go through the headache of traffic, bad road conditions etc. Give it time, it will be successful.

They could make it work of they connect it with metro 1 at ghatkopar or metro 6 at kanjurmarg or metro 2b at mankhurd. Else it's failed project by all means.

@@kracks9852 Agreed, but NM metro can be the next Mumbai mono rail in terms of low ridership. Unlike other cities, Navi-Mumbai has good and wider roads. Specially certain sectors Kharghar where this metro passes from has 4-6 lane roads, having max 10 vehicle any given time. No doubt in future as these sectors get develop, metro may provide a good alternative.

A great videos indeed, everyone including media, government seemed to forgot about the project, also there have been a lot of issues with road construction in new cidco areas like Karanjade, ulwe, etc. Road construction and area development has also been delayed for years just like Navi Mumbai metro.

@@jalpasheth5272example they haven't even planned what line 8 would look like, where the stns will be while it's supposed to connect Mumbai with new upcoming airport. And I'm pretty sure metro 14 is not the solution to take people who travel fast train from badlapur ambarnath to ride a much slower metro passing through much more sparse population (creek, mangrove, mountain will take up half the length while a lot of what is land is sparsely populated). I have a guess as more and more metros are built they'll hit a point where they might see this metro 14 as white elephant project and not approve it.

I used to travel from Panvel to Vashi during my DIploma in 2014 and i used to see the Metro construction throughtout the course. Now i have completed my Diploma then my Bachelors, worked for 1 year and again i switch into another filed and again got job......still after all this years this Mtero project is going on, even the Belapur metro's whole construction is not even completed. I hope this project will get completed when my kids will travel from same routes which i used to take.

That's so true. I was an engineering student back then when metro work started. Took admission in 2011 and now in 2023 I'm moved forward in my career but still whenever I visited Kharghar I see just fraction of work being proceeded. Such a shame for a city which is still one of the best designed cities

Great video buddy. Nicely presented and shared a good deal of information. New update ke hisab se Navi Mumbai metro is mahine (April 2023) shuru karne ka plan hai. Ideally is metro ka value tab badega jab yeh line CBD ke badle Vashi tak extend ho. So maximum navi mumbai cover hoga. Lets hope it starts.

FYI, Harbour (Vashi-CSTM) railway line was inaugurated in May 1992 and the trans Harbour railway line (Vashi-Thane)route was started in 2004

I saw the FIRST digging / pillars for this metro (only trial) come up in 2001-2. This wasn't for the final work, but a trail of the project. Officially it might have started in 2011, but digging etc had started a decade before that! So 20 years+ for a 11kms line...

Kisi bhi city mein metro ka construction karte waqt pehle ek SPV ( Special Purpose Vehicle ) ko appoint Kiya jata hai. MMRC ( Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation ) is responsible for construction Metro lines in Mumbai. Before Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation is responsible for construction of metro lines in Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, etc. CIDCO has Appointed Maharashtra Metro Rail in 2019 almost 9 years late. Even the Govt of Maharashtra & Govt of India is not interested in construction of this line. Nagpur ko approval 2014 me Mila tha aur 2019 mein operational bhi ho gaya.

Small Delay is ok atleast they made a big project like metro idea for a new built city which was a full village some years ago Navi Mumbai,etc. only and they will extend till vashi Mumbai and connect to mmrda also Mumbai metro only and its a blessing that they made such a big budget Navi Mumbai metro Kolkata so advance city many cities dont even have a metro project so its good and it will start soon by this year Navi Mumbai metro or soon maybe they are taking daily trials so government is doing a great step at its side and it started great speed work in past few years so it will start Navi Mumbai metro soon and its big good thing only 30-40 RS ticket ac metro where auto charges 100-200 rs,etc. for distances of taloja-belapur and there are so many poor people schemes,tax money so less collection so many are poor they get so much benifits of tax money still so many good projects Indian government keeps making hats off to government for bringing such a good project and developed it and development. Mumbai metro underground project,ac local trains,non ac,etc. So this is just a misleading fake video it is not delayed or failed it will start soon Navi Mumbai metro,etc. Ok bye.

Corruption is not there see so less tax people pay so many poverty people are government have to serve them free pensions,money,free medicines,etc. still they are regularly developing india with new metro ac trains and so less tickets 30-40 rs respect government they never do corruption's,etc. Ok small scale maybe but they never do big corruption's or corruption as such delay is there small atleast they start this year or soon Navi Mumbai metro only is starting only ok bye.

What is worst is, they are classifying wetlands and mangroves as commercial lands 😂😂😂 giving it to builders. I just want to move away from this land now, while it’s my ancestral land, I know it’s beyond repair. One major disaster and it will fall.

The one main reason for the delay is CIDCO, they have been pueposely delaying to increase land cost and sell it. The other reason is as you rightly pointed land acquisition, in MMRDA region this is the biggest issue and has multi-nodal agencies with conflicting jursidiction. CIDCO had no expertise in constructing Metro they should have hired DMRC as consultant from the begining and they did that at the last leg of construction. CIDCO is one of the biggest corrupt government bodies in India.

Navi Mumbai, Mumbai and Jaipur Metro did not fail. The metro that actually failed is Bengaluru Namma Metro. other metros are doing actually better than the Namma Metro.

it's not fully complete yet. some stations are still under construction... it will take another 4-5 months to get the whole route started. or they can start a small section of the route, but it will surely not be profitable..

Comedy show bana k rakh dia CIDCO ne 😁, surprisingly koi kaise blacklisted companies ko tender de sakte h? Chairman ya Head ki position vacant hoti h to har organization me power ki ladai hoti h, ghaple bhi pale k hote h or organization hi suffer karta h. Shocked to see such type of corruption in Navi Mumbai, total governance failure. I hope, Maha Metro will complete the project without much resistance.

ajeeb baat ye hai ki , "THOUSANDS OF CRORES" k budget and payment in various companies ko pay hoti rehti hai, diff-diff contractors ka naam judta jata hai lekin actual jgh pr construction bs kuch bulldozer kuch crane and bunch of labours SLOWLY-SLOWLY kr rhe hote hai. (Go and try watching any bridge,underpass construction in your area you will see how the actual work be going on)

No metro line is more delayed compare to Kolkata metro line 3, it's 13y of suffering for daily commuters and just inaugurated 6km useless part of 16km line.

Im becoming old now.. Listening navi mumbai metro, Navi mumbai Airport.. 🤣 Still both projects are yet to complete... God (govt and contractors) knows when will it complete... Government of all parties have been in maharashtra, but situations are not improved..🤷🏽♂️

Navi Mumbai is Far away from Mumbai.. why it is named as navi Mumbai.... New name would be better than this one .. and new cities should be built out of Western Ghats...So we can save the our Oldest Forest area😢😢😢

No Navi Mumbai is correct name it will never change it is new Mumbai only and ghats are not proper for humans,etc. Living so ghats are not ok everywhere Navi Mumbai development also is needed for human population growth living so its good development and ghats are also there in Navi Mumbai some only and its not far from Mumbai and future development of fast trains more less time only some 10-20 minutes only distance will be left from vashi Mumbai to Navi Mumbai its not far proper name Navi Mumbai only ok bye.

Navi mumbai metro is best government is nice that is why they making such big budget projects and cidco is also good so big city navi Mumbai was a full jungle forest area now so big city cidco makes cities and so many cities like navi Mumbai,etc. only are made only ok and navi Mumbai metro will connect to vashi Mumbai also soon and mumbai underground mmrda metro also only so big big budget projects and development are being done and already some metro,trains,etc. Only completed only projects like vande bharat,ac local,mumbai metro,delhi metro so railways is government and private only and government,etc. And all government only is the best only ok bye.
