While details are good, here are my 2 cents : At times there is lack of understanding from Auditors which leads to frustration when draft reports are being circulated. We have to understand the audit objective and scope limitations. You mentioned about pre-RCM where key factor is the “risk” around which audits revolve. When you pointed on multiple occasions where policy document is not approved (as an observation/issue) is that really a “risk” or just an improvement opportunity and here starts the battle. When we talk about scope, again auditors cannot ask any and everything; hence they have to be mindful of it. Also there is a thin line margin between auditing control and auditing data which at times lead to disconnect. Discovering PII in risk based audit; is that really a concern in India where we do not have approved privacy act? (No legal implications unless regulatory non-compliances qualify here for attention) Lastly, obtaining evidence from mail does not necessarily ensures accountability instead completeness and accuracy of the data obtained from the source (system/any location) ensures that to an Auditor.

Hi prabh - ive been working on external audit. So please excuse me if im wrong and correct me As per my understanding controls and relevant attributes will be already designed by the auditee management (change management head in this case) to cover up the risk and the auditors actually test if these attributes are met during test of design and op effectiveness. To my knowledge risks controls and attributes are not prepared by the auditors but by the auditee management as per the existing sop docs etc.dunno if in internal audit its the other way round. Please correct me if im wrong
