I bought a helmet that came with a shield. It could snap on and off easily. It was tinted for sun protection and I absolutely love the thing. I got it off off Amazon.

I had many caps and consistently chose the most comfortable one. Go with the comfortable one. You won't regret it. I had to remove the riveted button from the crown. It did not fall apart doing that. I recently bought an add on brim, and rain cover for my helmet.

Not sure either cap adds to your visibility, and both colors coordinate with your helmet and look great on you (blue is best). But my inner cyclist says any bit of high-vis is worth having.

Yellow. Also, I know that you said that you have puncture with you. I was wondering though if you had new tires along, at least one for each wheel. Maybe hang them from a bungee cord across the back of your seat. Maybe use one of those bungee nets to hold onto them.

Good job, My setup is almost exactly as your is set up. If I could add a picture I would, the only thing I have different is, on the top of the rack I place a $2.99 orange ammo box I purchased from Harbor Freight. It is just bungee corded onto the rack with two straps and is very secure. I place the most important items that I will need quick access to for repair my trike, tubes, levers, spare cables, CO2 system, Allen wrenches, wrenches, patch kit. I can have it disconnected within seconds, open and using equipment and back onto the trike in seconds. I still pile the rain gear and dirty laundry on top of it and secure it with a very small cargo net.

I’m late to the party but I vote blue. Just a quick question but do you have a link for the panniers? I’m getting an ICE Trike Adventure HD early next year and you have inspired me to get out and travel, not just exercise! I will admit that watching your video on why ride a recumbent trike is the main reason I got myself to a recumbent stockist to try them out. I have a chronic health condition that is slowly robbing me of my independence and a trike is the best thing I’ve found to turn that around. So thank you for your videos. Xx

Regarding the hat, Australians use a kind of strap-on brim that turns the it cycling helmet into a cowboy hat. Because ausrralian law forces them to wear helmets. I don't know where they get them from. I normally wear just a baseball cap but it doesn't protect your ears and neck from the sun.

Me I'd always go for the high viz YELLOW. Even Stevie Wonder could see that.

What are the volume of your recumbent bags....I have the Radical design banana large bags which are 35L each but not fully waterproof. Thinking of getting the ortlieb back roller pro plus bags which are 35L each but load from the top and no zippers. They are cheaper then the banana bags.

Sylvia, I notice you perfer the foot strap, the heel sling seems more fool proof. What feed back can u give me on that subject. I am just thinking of getting a trike, I did 900 miles last summer, up in Alaska(Denali Hwy an such) on my bike. Want to avoid butt hurt, but leg suck sounds worse. I towed a kid buggy as it was all camping with stores few a far. I liked ur talk (different vid) on being able to go slow an not worry about falling over, as I did do quite a bit of walking an pushing (a heavy load, i had). Thanks

The cap is not very visible when helmet is on so may not matter. Maybe bring both? Why green helmet and not yellow? I actually like your orange helmet

Another great informative video. It’s always good to practice before actual event. I used to go camping where we would hike out into the woods and I would always practice in my back yard setting up tents as fast&dry as possible. Always packed an emergency canopy at the top of my backpack in case we arrived at our rainy location. For sun protection on bike helmet go to dabrim.com they have big brims that fit over your regular helmets and covers front&back.

I don't see the point of using a helmet on a trike tbh. I just wear a cycling cap to keep the sun out of my eyes. Tweed or merino in the winter, cotton in the summer.
