It's amazing how well Ju Wenjun is doing in this tournament. Sure, she's a grandmaster and a world champion, but she's up against some really powerful opponents. She is literally the only woman and has been at the top of the rankings since the beginning. I don't think we've had a female chess player perform so well with the best male chess players since Judit Polgar. Too bad she hasn't played any serious chess in the last 3 years. This makes me wonder what her ranking should actually be now. Her playing strength points to much more than 2550 FIDE elo.

@@binor1666Maybe her actual playing strength is not yet 2700 or 2800 but I also think she is definitely stronger than 2500. She very regularly wins games with players above 2600 elo, sometimes she also wins games with players above 2700. At Sharjah Masters she played at 2680 elo. I think it may be in the range of 2650-2699. Her lower rating may be due to the fact that she only plays women in most tournaments, and she has one of the highest ratings of any player there (actually the highest except for Hou Yifan, who retired from playing all-female tournaments a long time ago, which greatly increased her rating), so earning new points is very difficult. One open tournament raised her rating by 16 points in a month. She would definitely score higher if she played open tournaments more often, just like Hou Yifan did.

He moved the white King to e4 and the black King to e5. This indicates a draw which has just been agreed. Other formations are used to indicate the possibility that White won or that Black won. Since, in chess, it's illegal for kings to be next to each other, such formations are unambiguous -- they clearly indicate the result of a finished game and are not part of a current position.

Although chess isn't a physical strength game, why do men dominate this game as well? Please don't tell me the numbers are more. I am talking about game skills. Nowadays there are so many women. Why is it that most of the times the man comes out on top?

To those who are wondering about the arbiter moving the kings face to face (which is used to denote draw): This is a DGT board (an electronic board which identifies the position on the board and transmits it to a computer). The final position of the kings will automatically enter the result on the computer to which the board is connected to.
@RazorStrap
@RazorStrap 10 ай бұрын
Can the kings be placed face to face anywhere on the board to designate a draw to the computer? Since kings could never be face to face from an in-game move, seems like the computer should take it as a draw regardless of where on the board.

Almost~ "Crushed"? How could you possibly say that? There was no "amazing line" either. In fact, it was a rather boring game that ended in a draw- which means, if you don't know what a draw means- it is where *neither player* wins. 1/2 point to 1/2 point. Or, it's possible you were watching a different game with an "amazing line" and made the error of commenting on this game instead.
