Prague Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its outstanding cultural and historical value. It holds the title of being the largest ancient castle complex in the world according the Guinnes World Records. It covers an area of approx. 70,000 square meters (750,000 square feet).
But don't expect a Cinderella or Frozen type castle. This is a complex that includes several palaces, churches, gardens etc.
The most famous are St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, the Basilica of St. George, and the Golden Lane.
Prague Castle has been the seat of Czech kings, emperors, and presidents for over a thousand years.
The castle was founded in the 9th century and has been continuously expanded and renovated throughout its history.
In this video we will wander around the Royal Gardens and tell you a story about The Queen Anne's Summer Palace (Královský Letohrádek, or Belvedere) and the Singing Fountain, then, a sneak peek behind the St. Vitus Cathedral, where you can find the oldest Restaurant and from The St. George's Square we will enter the beautiful St. George's Basilica and the Old Royal Palace.
We definitely can't miss the charming South Gardens with the incredible scenic views of Prague, stop for a refreshing coffee in the Cafe on the Bastion located in the 4th courtyard.

QUEEN ANNE'S SUMMER PALACE (BELVEDERE) AND SINGING FOUNTAIN:
Queen Anne's Summer Palace, also known as the Belvedere, was built between 1538 and 1560 by order of Ferdinand I for his beloved wife, Queen Anne of Bohemia and Hungary.
The Palace is a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture, designed by the Italian architect Paolo della Stella and completed by Bonifac Wohlmut. Its elegant loggias and arcades are adorned with intricate reliefs and sculptures.
Queen Anne, beloved by her people and adored by King Ferdinand I, sought a heaven away from the bustling life of the court. She longed for a peaceful retreat, where she could escape the demands of royalty and find solace in nature.
To fulfill her wish, King (later the Holy Roman Emperor) Ferdinand I commissioned the construction of a magnificent summer house. This elegant palace within the Prague Castle, surrounded by the serene Royal Gardens, became her sanctuary.
Queen Anne loved to spend her afternoons in the gardens. She walked through the blooming flowers and lush greenery, wandered to her favorite spots where she could see the beautiful views of the castle.
But her most favorite spot was close to the Singing Fountain. She would sit there for hours, listening to the water's melody that sounded like gentle, distant bells.
The soft music seemed to carry whispers of love and peace, echoing her own thoughts and dreams.
THE SINGING FOUNTAIN, located in front of Queen Anne's Summer Palace, was cast in 1564 by Tomáš Jaroš, a renowned bell founder and metalworker.
The fountain is named for the melodious sound it produces when water flows into the bronze bowl, creating a musical effect that resembles the sound of bells.
The unique sound is produced by the water trickling over the edges of the central basin into the lower bowls.
When you listen to it under the basin, it resembles the sound of distant bells ringing, creating a harmonious and serene atmosphere.
Legend has it that the Singing Fountain was enchanted by a talented metalworker, who fell in love with a very beautiful maiden, but he never told her.
Instead, he put all his love into the fountain. He crafted the fountain with such care and precision that when it was completed, the sound of the water flowing over the bronze basin began to resemble the soft ringing of bells, a reflection of his love and longing.
Some say, that on serene evenings, the fountain's song carries his silent serenade through the gardens, a gentle bell chime, as a tribute to his unfulfilled love. And this melody of love and longing still resonates with all who listen carefully.
