@@MarkVPeterson I went to Ft Pierre National Grassland yesterday and it was beautiful! BIG sea of grassland. 1st time hunting prairie chicken. I only saw one group of sharptails but saw 6 prairie chickens. Should have gotten my birds in the first field but only dropped legs on two and couldn't tell if the 3rd one was a pheasant hen or not until it was too far. I switched from the Skeet1 choke to the pattermaster black duck choke on the 20g Retay semiauto and bagged the next 3 birds. Do prairie chickens group up?

Since this viewing, many leks have moved or disappeared for SD Pinnated Grouse, especially on their eastern half of the state due to Wind Turbines driving them out from their ancestral breeding grounds. :(

Tips for identifying grouse vs hen pheasant? It always seems too close to make that split second decision, and i let the grouse go.

Aren't prairie chickens considered endangered now...should we give them a break. Magnificent birds...would be a pity to wipe them out.

Very good work from you Mark but terrible from the cameraman! This environment is very easy for an average cameraman to get some very good footage.He keeps walking behind the hunter and he misses the flushing and shooting of the birds. I've seen this happening in some of your other videos too. It's a pitty after all the hard work and the miles of walking you've put into this!
