Let’s hear it for our blessed brother in Christ Joachim Neander who wrote this song in 1680 and yet he clearly knew the very same God who has befriended us. Thank you for preserving and passing on the faith that we might be saved. X

Can we just take a moment and truly read the lyrics, rather than the sounds, take your time and read it carefully...truly glorifying God! .. IT REMINDS ME WHEN I WAS 5 OR 6 YEARS OLD, SINGING THIS HYMN SITTING NEXT TO MY DEAR FATHER AT CHURCH. HE'S WITH THE LORD NOW SINCE 1994. THANK YOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL SONG, I'M 44 NOW AND IT STILL MAKES ME EMOTIONAL. CHRIST COME BACK SOON!!!

The Berkshire Mountains were the inspiration for this hymn, written by Henry Van Dyke in 1907. Oh God Almighty, pour out Your Spirit on the Appalachian Trail hikers this summer. Bring MANY to see You as Creator God, knowing that in You we live and breathe and have our being. Bring them to know Jesus as their personal Savior, so that they can be rooted and grounded in Him alone and follow Him as Lord of their lives. Holy Spirit, do a mighty work as they see the Godhead in Your glorious creation around them. Send the workers for the Harvest. I will be out there in June in a group that includes some gender confused women. Father, show us Your Glory! Do a mighty work in calling Many to Yourself in repentance and trust in You.
