Vijay Yadav was a great talent. Agressive wicketkeeper batsman and was one of the highest rungetters for Haryana during that era. I remember his 31 run innings on 21 balls which made India win against SA He lost his place to match fixer Nayan Mongia. A wonderful talent wasted by selectors who gave him too few chances. Even Pravin Amre was a victim in that match fixers era

Kabir singh you mentioned everything but forget to mention one of the most important thing about yadav which is he played this inning without helmet and that's also against the likes of donald and craig mathews in south africa....you have to give it to him simply because of the audacity of this men called yadav...i was very young then but one thing i am very sure is that the players like yadav and amre can't be replaced through any other reason other than politics....Great talent wasted.....

Very True. Vijay Yadav was far far better than Nayan Mongia...He at the way he plays. Yadav was not given enough chances , instead Mongia was unsuccessfully experimented.

in those days SA played a completely dominating game. It was very difficult for the Indian team to compete with them. Any wins against them was a bonus. Close games were destroyed by their umpire making wrong calls.

I have very faint memories of this game as 4 yr old chearing every run Inia made, yes SA played very dominating game and their cricket was fantastic India loosing 5-2, but Indian side back in early 90s was worst.... Kapil was out of form, Azar was average, Sachin was yet to explode.... many talents like Amre, yadav, Raman Lamba, V Raju... came and gone... feilding was our biggest drawback....

He got enough.....I still remember, amre and azaruddin photo laughing during SA tour when India did not win shit....He was not worth for spot on team....but got enough opportunities.

Both Praveen Amre and Vijay Yadav played with cool heads and finished the match by playing more than expectations.... Pravin Amre was very talented and we can never forget his Century on his debut at Durban (bouncy track).... Vijay Yadav too was very talented and Kiran More blocked his place.... Kiran More was an ordinary batsman, but very influential.... During those days, India could not win many matches even if the required runs would be less than 30 if Kiran More batted..... Such a pathetic, useless batsman he was..... But still he played many matches for India...!! This Partnership was a great one for the Indians during those days as it came under pressure against the tough bowling attack under lights.... It was a shame to other senior players in the team who played like eunuchs and gave up. Look at the attitude of Vijay Yadav and how he played with Amre....!!! Much much better than Kiran More....

Praveen Amre was a very gutsy cricketer but since he had no godfather one or 2 bad game made him loose his place and then he was forgotten completely

I was just 2 @ that time. Dont know the cricket of that era well but I think amre would have got enough chances since he is from mumbai .Even our ipl has many stars who can make one day wonders against a strong bowling unit but not consistently like sanju, prithvi shaw , iqbal, tewatia etc

I wonder why talents like Ashok malhotra, praveen amre, vinod kambali didn't florish to their potential. Praveen amre was exceptionally good but batted only for 2 years in international cricket.

What the heck it was Amre who made out Azharuddin for silly run so what is great about him in this match ? I know Amre was good fielder but not a great batsman at all.
