We're back in the world of FTL! In today's campaign, we're going to take the Mantis-A cruiser - known as the "Gila Monster" - for a spin, making good use of our crew teleporter to capture and scrap as many ships as we can! And if we can complete two of the Mantis-A achievements along the way, we could unlock the Mantis-B, which is considered one of the best ships in the game!

You're seeing the value of having good engines -- it really should be the one thing you man after piloting. I also usually try to get my evade up to 5 before upgrading shields to 3. Finally, the Long-Range Sensors are probably one of the most cost-effective upgrades in the game. If you get even one extra encounter because of it, it'll pay for itself.

Never remove your pilot, your evasion chance drops to zero, and the enemy will hit you every time. Also in your case engines are better to man than weapons.

Cloaking doesn't prevent you from getting your crew back from the enemy ship, just makes whatever projectiles coming your way utterlly useless

It increases evasion by 50%, prevents enemy weapons from charging or starting to fire, stops enemy drones that aren't in your ship already, and prevents enemy from boarding you or returning their boarders. You can still get hit if your evasion is low enough, and there is enough incoming fire. And yes, you can still board and return at will if enemy isn't stealthed too.

Have you ever been hit by a missle when you had 130% evasion chance or something along those lines?....yeah, me too.....

@@Dubluvex There's an achievement for being hit multiple times with high evasion chance and I only know that because I got it while cloaked.

@@KyouTGD your description is wrong. The achievement is dodging 12 shot without getting hit (I think). The only way that I know to get this achievement is by doing it at the rebal flagship 3rd phase.

This is the first time I've heard of this game, so pardon my ignorance. What would happen if you entered or got stuck in the restricted area?

That’s the Rebel Fleet. Being stuck there means you have to fight them on every single jump, and they’re much stronger than most things you fight.

And no scavenging destroyed rebel ships there either. You simply have no time to do that. You only get 1 fuel for defeating ships there.

François Perreault I got cocky once because I min maxed every sector and I nearly had a fully maxed put ship with cloak, hacking, and multiple hull weapons (to make it more clear, I one hitted every single the flag ship phase with just attacking with my weapons at once because hacking put down the shield and then hitting 4 to 6 rooms with hull weapons so double damage when they already do 2 to 3 damage is kinda insane) And because I went into it myself I had to fight 2 or 3 tims in it, and even tho I was extremly powerul being able to one hit any ship in the game as long the shields are down it nearly cost me the game since defender drones basically kill my strategie and the fight will take at least two weapon shots and then everything hits me and I start getting damage just like everyone would in the rebel fleet areas. I just barely managed to survive and had to go to a store in the last stand to get my hull repaired.

When you fight the final boss be sure to kill all his crew except one on tge left wing isolated chamber so no AI and no repairs

I started playing this game at the begining of the pandemic. I couldn't win a game on easy. Proud to say I've beat the game with every ship on hard mode playing the browser version, where many of the augmentations (reconstructive teleport, fire suppression) and the backup battery (freezes game upon powering down) do not work. Love this game. Still playing. Wonder if there will ever be a sequel.

Why not get the game on steam? It is really worth the money. And congrats on beating the game on hard, I couldn't get that far ^^

The one thing I don't like about this ship is that it's all about boarding yet the telepad is in a two person room instead of 4

telepads are only ever in 2 person rooms. I think its just a balance thing.

And that you can't move several into the room to take them with you, say you have the B class have 4 in there and move 4 more over to another room. Got 8 teleported. That one can't have that double bummer.

- This game can be unforgiving. Buying TP 3 too early cost you hacking, which is one of the strongest setups you can get. Spending scrap carefully is often what defines outcomes. More so on hard, but even here it would make the game easier/saved a lot of damage in the very sector it was first offered! - Taking lots of damage at 12:00. Pause and move crew into the room, it will interrupt their attacks on the system in question! Engines up to 4 around now is good too. Usually before shields 3, though it depends. On that note manning the engines is more valuable than manning shields in general. - You've overbought power, but only by 1. Not too bad. - Not buying hacking at 22:40 is brutal :(. It's the best system in the game overall, is the strongest support system for boarding, and would carry your run even on hard! It's underpriced in vanilla and is an autobuy in non-edge cases unless you're doing a restrictive challenge variant. Here's an example with a silly weapon loadout :) i.imgur.com/7gSE4rU.jpg
